Hey everyone!

I went to Lebanon this summer and I met a girl and we dated for three months and then I went back to Canada/Calgary. Now we are planning to apply for a visitor visa for her to stay one month (January 2022). She works as an instructor at a university in Lebanon and she is divorced with a kid (who is not coming with her to Canada). She also has a relative (uncle) in Canada/Toronto. She plans to come to Canada and land in Alberta then visit her uncle. I would highly appreciate it if anyone can help me with the following questions:

1- Regarding the invitation letter, we have three options:

1-a) The first option is that her uncle sends her an invitation letter. However, the issue with this option is that she will land in Alberta and he lives in Ontario. Would the officers at the airport ask her about the reason she came first to Alberta if she is visiting and staying at her uncle's in Toronto?
1-b) The other option is that I send her the invitation letter as a friend. But we are worried that they might be doubtful, since she is Hijabi and typically it is assumed that a hijabi girl won't stay at a male friend's house. Another issue with this option, is that I am worried that during COVID they might not give a visa if the reason is just to see a friend.
1-c) The third option is to send her an invitation letter stating that we are dating and she wants to spend her winter break here so we can be together.

Please note that she didn't talk to her uncle yet, and thus the first option might not be available after all. Thus, please, when choosing an option, if you chose the first option, please also let me know which of the last two options would be better, just in case she couldn't get an invitation letter from her uncle.

2- If you think there is another option better than the aforementioned options above, please let us know.

3- To prove that she has strong connections with lebanon and that she will return back after her break is over, we have several pieces of evidence that we are not sure which ones to focus on and how to present them. Here are the things that we believe provide an evidence that she will come back to Lebanon:

3-a) She has an 7 years old kid who is staying in Lebanon because of school and more importantly because legally she can't take the child with her out of the country as the dad opposes that.
3-b) She is a university instructor and she has to go back to teaching in the winter semester
3-c) She is a part time teacher at a high school and she will be teaching online during January.
3-d) She has a car registered under her name.
3-e) All her close family members live in Lebanon.
3-f) The university and the school she works at are very prestigious and the salary is relatively high so she has every incentive to continue working for them.

I don't know if this is relevant, but I am also a professor in Canada and I have good stable income.

Thank you for your time,
Much Appreciated!

I'm on the same situation. All I read so far look like the boyfriend/girlfriend route is going to be harder because they automatically think she would want to stay. Is very upsetting :( My purpose is to take vacation time from work and use it to go see my boyfriend during the holidays.

Processing from Lebanon is 563 days so January 2022 isn’t realistic. Aim for 2023.

1B is your only option if uncle is not an option. What are her funds since she wants to come for a month?

Realistically any professional applying to leave Lebanon will have a tough time getting approved since most will not return to Lebanon. Processing times are also very long these days.

Thanks for the reply.

Someone posted on a facebook group two weeks ago that he got the visitor visa in three weeks, that is why we got encouraged to apply.

She has enough funds and also i will write in the invitation letter that I will take care of all her expenses and my income is good.

May I know why the third option (1-c) might not work? She clearly has a lot of connection to lebanon including her daughter and work of course.

Is it possible to mention in the application that even if the January 2022 visit won't work, she would still like to get the visa so she can come during the summer break? I feel this is a dumb question already lol

If the letter states you are dating, then officers will be even more concerned that she will get married on entry and not return to Lebanon.
