invitation letter date

Hi everyone;
I am applying to visit Canada in May 2018 while in my invitation letter, it is mentioned that I'll be visiting the country in May 2017. What do you think I should do? Should I ask my friend to prepare another invitation letter? Or it's Ok to apply with this one.

Whats the hurry of applying year in advance?

Whats guarantee that your friend's position and location might change by then or he /she decides movement out of Canada?

Get your plans correct along with tentative dates to visit - dont apply too much in advance enough to raise unwanted doubts in the minds.
