Hi Everyone
I need advice. I got re-married and sponsored my wife from Delhi, India. It has been already 16 months for my application. I was divorced 4 years ago before I could sponsor my wife. I did not sponsor my previous wife she was a dependent. Things did not work out between us. I tried inquiring with Delhi about an update on my wife's application but they said that it is under investigation by CIC and CBSA. Does anyone know how long will this process take? and why is this process taking place. Can I apply for a tourist Visa for my wife till such process is complete. This distant relationship is really stressful for the bot of us. Has anyone gone through this process? Please Advice

I highly doubt any of us can tell you how long this investigation will take or why you are under investigation.

Yes - you can certainly try applying for a tourist visa. However I think chances are extremely high it will be refused.

Did your first wife sponsor you to Canada?

If yes, then I believe you have to wait 5 yrs before you can sponsor another spouse. You were divorced 4 yrs ago (not yet 5 yrs since you became PR), perhaps that's the reason for the investigation?

How did you meet your current wife? Did your relationship with new wife overlap with that of your first wife?

Anyway, just suggestions (no idea really) but may be others can chime in.

The OP already stated his first wife was a dependent, which I take to mean she got her PR simultaneously with the OP (that's how i read it anyway). So long as the divorce is legit, I don't see this as what they are investigating, that should be a non-issue. Something else is at play.

the divorce was legit.

Maybe you should order your case notes and they may indicate why the investigation is taking place.

Did you atleast get sponsorship approval during this time? So you are in step 2 with file at NDVO? Does your current wife have a lot of travel history? CBSA investigations take a long while if applicant has a lot of travel history. They literally contact all the countries that she has been to and verify things. So, delays could be on that front too. As other said, ordering notes could shine some light. But generally, for CBSA, notes don't show much information as security related info is kept confidential. It will just say "investigation in progress" or something like that.

That is correct. I am on step 2 at the Delhi Office. My wife has only completed her studies in the UK other than that she hasn't traveled. It has been 17 months now since I have applied. I am thinking of filing for her tourist visa since this process is taking so long. :-(

I have a similar case too ... my husband has submitted to sponsor me 16 month ago and the file is under investigation
Could you please tell me what happened to your case !!
After how many months your wife got the visa !!
And what was the investigation were about !!
Did u do any appeals !!!
