Currently people working in Canada through Intra-Company-Transfer (ICT)-skilled worker can stay maximum of 5 years in Canada, then the 6th year extension cannot be applied by the employer if they are not in manager. They should be away from Canada for one year and new work permit will be applied by the employer after one year.
CIC change to remove cumulative duration limit but not mentioned whether this is applicable for Intra-Company-Transfer (ICT) or not. Can you please let us know this change to remove limit of 5 years also, can the employer apply for 6th WP extension for the employees with ICT.
CIC website snapshot below.
This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada staff. It is posted on the Department’s website as a courtesy to stakeholders.
Note: Effective December 13, 2016, the cumulative duration limit no longer applies to all current and future work permit applications (as per public policy pursuant to section 25.2 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act). This includes applications submitted in Canada, overseas and at ports of entry.
