Intial Assessment

Do you receive something from the Visa office to confirm that the Initial assessment is complete. If so what is this Initial Assessement? The reason I ask is that trackit.com mentions it and I don't understand what that is.

The sponsor will normally receive a letter to confirm eligibility (if all ok!). This will have a file number which you can use to track your case online through ecas.

I guess what they means by that is that when they send for the passport request letter, not sure.
