Hello Canadianwoman ,

I see you had an interview too ?? did it went well ??? :)
No. Some of the visa officers in Accra have a bad reputation, and we got one of them.

Just read another post where someone said the visa officers in a particular visa office were locals. Then it got me thinking - are the officers in Accra, Ghanaian or Canadian citizens?

Hi forum people, am very happy to write here for my first time. i have been reading both good and discouraging messages here for a whole week. But today i get strength to write also. I started in August 2013 and my husband received approved letter in September 2013. In November our file went in interview queue up to now but my husband write to Embassy in January 2014, reply was that my interview day will be communicated very soon. Now this week, i receive email that interview is March 2014 and it seems they need me to prove my marriage to my husband.
Yet our marriage is real, we love each other too much but how do i prove to interview visa officer?
Am very very worried. i read so many things here that causes to ask for interview and most of them are like in our file.
- met my husband online, we chat so so much about many things for 4 months
- after my husband comes to visit my home country for 4 days
- i go to his country with him we get married and stayed together 2weeks he goes to canada.
- he is divorced 7 years ago, but me i have never married before but have child from past friendship
- he is 18years olders me (me 32yrs and him 50years) but he looks very younger than his years.
- he has masters degree, i have 1 degree

so these are some of the things worrying me. so you think i will be approved at interview. Please forum help me on what to do on interviews. We love each other and we dont want anything to separate us becuase even waiting is so stressing. Thank you
yours'
Newbride
Thanks good people for taking time to read and advise.
Continue to help me and we also prepare all our proof for the interview.

Hey well I think what you can do is bring as much evidence as you can to the interview , keep calm .. did they told you what documents you need to bring with you to the interview ??

Hi,

Though I may not have complete knowledge about this but I will mention few things that I have read in this forum (assuming urs is an inland application!!)-

Be confident, that's very important. Carry as many proofs as u can like ur wedding pics, pics from ur brother in laws wedding where u nd ur spouse are present. Pics with each other's family. If u are living together, then ur rental/ mortgage document, joint account statements. Letters from ur family and friends. May screen shot of Facebook pages where u have commented on each other's timeline.

There could be more .......

All the very Best!!

This one was not Ghanaian. I think she was Canadian, though she had been working there for a long time (which is unusual for visa officers if they are actually Canadian foreign service officers.)

All visa officers who make decisions on visa applications are Canadian Citizens. It is possible they have been in a certain country for a long time, they may know the local language, culture and traditions, and sometimes their background may be of that specific country, but still they are Canadian Citizens. In all overseas consulates/embassies or visa processing centres there are employees who are local nationals, however they are only the support staff (administrators, filing clerks, processing clerks).

I have no idea why they ask me for an interview , I been with my husband for 3 years marry for one already , we meet each other in highschool , no children ,we havent been marry before ( this is our first marriage ) no age difference , we know each others family , we got marry 12 months after I came back to Mexico so we didnt got marry right away neither did we start the sponsorship application lol They are vert confusing in my case I dont know if it was really for our relationship that we got an interview !! I been asking in forums about the interview and what everyone says is just to be honest dont lie about anything if you cant remeber a date just say I DONT REMEMBER better than to make something up . Dont stress when you are in the interview or be nervous :) I know its hard cuz Im freaking out but only because I had see comments where the officer is very rude and even if you are being honest they try to find anything to deny your application so fingers cross we both get a nice officer :) & bring as much proff as you can with you to the interview :) good luck and hope everything works out for you !!
From what a lawyer told me one of the biggest reasons they flag cases is past claims with CIC. Having a refugee claim in the past will almost certainly get you an interview, but don't worry. It is your chance to explain to them and answer their questions. The fact that you were so young then definitely helps. Everyone gave great advice about being calm and relaxed, try to remember that in the moment! Let us know what happens!
