hi everyone,

I got a letter from the Buffalo visa office, my interview date is in Feb 2010. it is still 3 more months from now.
Is there any one have the interview in Feb? I am holding my breath until that day.
They asked if I need the interpreter. I am Vietnamese studying English in US but I can communicate okay with my Canadian husband. Do you think I should need an interpreter?

Hi Nguyen,
If i were you i would go with an interpreter just to be on the safe side. if you dont speak english well, pliz get one to come along with you. be prepared as well. you dont have to pay the person. an interpreter could mean a friend who speaks English fluently and can translate back to you in Vietnamese. as well, pliz be prepared coz they will ask you so many question and if they requested certain documents, pliz make sure you go with them and provide them right when they ask you. if you dont mind, let me know how the letter tells you so i can help you further. let me know what documents they require??
good luck.

Hi Rhino,
Actually, i can speak English well so that i can communicate with my husband, but i am worried that sometimes I misunderstand them or they confuse of what i say. I wrote in the application that i prefer the interview will be in English. I will use an interpreter, but Do you think i can speak English whenever i can during the interview sometimes, and if i need help from the interpreter i will let he/she translates? I know that I have to pay for the interpreter.

In the letter, they says that "your sponsor may also attend". What do they mean? Will they interview my husband at the same time and seperately?

They dont require special document, they only require passport, documentation supporting your relationship with your spouse, Birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce license if applicable. all of them must be original.

Thank you for your advise, i hope these information i list above would tell you more about my case.

Regards,

I believe that they will provide you with an interpreter should you need one, rather then you having to bring one alone.

I think, if they ask you whether you need interpreter or not, it means they wish to provide one for you without any charge. this way you can use interpreter in case you cannot explain to them some things that you find difficult to express in English. it cat help you a lot during the interview.

Hi Nguyen,
yeah i think you can speak English at the interview and if there is some confusion, the interpeter could speak for you. just be prepared, relax and be cool. go with all those documents they requested plus if they told to come with your spouse, go with him. i think both of you will be interviewed just to prove the legality of the marriage. they will ask him questions as well. just tell him to prepare for the questions. all will be well in the name of God. when they call to the interview window that door, just stay relax and snwer all questions as they ask. look the officer in the eye. nothing to stress about and they will just go through what you wrote in the file. if i were you, i could go through the copies of the file you send and rehearse.
Nothing to worry at all. All will be well.
Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for your valuable advise!
The time interview will fall into winter, and snow is all around in Buffalo, I would be freezing then. But I will try my best to fight at the interview :) We finally decide to use the interpreter.
How are you guys' application process?
I wish you all good luck. I will share everything with you after the interview ...if i win.

Hi Rhino,
Can you share with me about your case? Did you have an interview? Can you tell me your time line? Where is the visa office?
I got my medical done and paid the fee before sending the application. So it took 1 month for them to assess and then require interview. Now, i will have my FBI report in US, cause when I applied, I have been in US for 4 months, but until Feb 2010, my interview day, it's over 9 months. Do you think i need to get one in advance just in case they need?

You can get an FBI report now if you want to make sure. The only issue is that it is only valid for 3 months. It usually only takes 3-4 weeks to get, so it's really up to you.

Hey Nguyen,
No i didnt have to do an interview coz all my stuff were straightfoward. i am an alberta PNP and my case was send to Nairobi Kenya for processing. dont do anything else till they ask u in the interview coz they might think you are so desperate. just treat the process as a bonus in life not something you cant live without. me i have always treated the process as if i care less if it comes or no coz that will take your frustration away. i use to say if it comes, then good if it doesnt life still goes on. here is my timeline. hope this helps.

Here below is my timeline from start to now.
AINP Application send on July 20, 2009
AINP Application received on July 23,2008 and file number send to me via email.
Employer approval on Nov 27,2008
AINP CERTIFICATE approved on January 13 but reached me on Jan 2oth 2009.
CIC applications send on March 12,2009.
CIC Nairobi received them on 30th March 2009
AOR received on 20th August 2009. after four months in the dark.
Medical PPR,RPRF plus a prepaid envelope request on 3rd October 2009.
Medical done on the 6th October 2009. PP, RPRF plus Prepaid envelope send on the 7th October 2009 and reached CHC Nairobi on the 12th October 2009.
Medical fowarded to Ottawa on the 20th October 2009.
Now just waiting for the decision to be made. hopefully before DEc. lets c. or even better the NOV 19th which will be birthday and that will be a really nice B day.

Hi Rhino,

Did they send you the passport request letter? Do you know that they approve for you or not?
Do you have any letter from the visa office that says you are waived the interview?
Anyways, I hope you can get the visa sooner before your birthday! Happy BD in advance.

my time line:
31 Aug 09:Sending application
24 Sep 09: Sponsorship approval
7 OCt 09: file in Buffalo
6 Nov 09: Letter require interview
11 Nov 09: Letter of interview day in Feb 2010
Feb 2010: Interview

I dont know why it takes so long, almost 3 months since they notice me that i will have a interview. that's such a long time.
