Hi everyone,

So, my family had test & interview today. Officer was nice but asked all four family members to sign a consent form to get Entry/Exit records from the U.S. We did travel to and from the U.S a lot in the last five years. We have one year over and above the minimum physical presence requirements. What I understand is that new Immigration Bill has eliminated "intent to reside" matter. I am not applying for Canadian Citizenship because I do not meet residency requirements. I am running a business in the U.S. I intend to join rest of the family in Canada in a year or two. So what is the Officer trying to find out?. Thoughts.

Thanks.

It's not that the officer is questioning your intention to reside in Canada, which is irrelevant in the new law. Due to your business in the US and many trips there, your physical presence in Canada is under more strict scrutiny. Again this is not suspicion on your character or anything, just due to your circumstances. That's why US entry/exit records were requested, to make sure the days you claim in the application are correct.

Thanks a lot. appreciate it. Any idea how long, on average should it take them to get I-94 records?. I am just wondering when we should be getting a DM email. Thanks.
