I am starting this thread as i cannot find much(latest) information on why interviews are required and who else is waiting for the interview date.
My aor is 30 dec and i got an email by LBM in july that i should attend a personal interview and the date will be communicated in the due course. Who else is still in the same boat?

Are you self employed?
If you claimed points for your spouse, is she a homemaker now?
Were you working and studying simultaneously?

NO I DIDN'T CLAIM POINTS FOR HIS EXPERIENCE. WE worked in the same company. IAM a housemaker now.

Were you working and studying simultaneously?
Nope

I have heard that the most common reason For the interview is when they have additional questions about your employment. You would have more clues if you ordered GCMS notes.
Anyway, at least now you know the exact date on which the final decision will be made and it is the day of the interview. Congrats! :)

There are several threads on this forum where people list the questions and how the interview went. Nothing extraordinary.

Yes i am expecting my notes in a week. Will share the reason here
Hoping for the interview date soon=)

From what i know, i can tell you the reason for the interview.
They are concerned in cases where the applicant gained points for work experience but currently they are not working. They would ask you since you applied for FSW, what plans do you have to get back into the job market. You can show you are applying for jobs etc or whatever you can show to convince them.
Hope that helps

Thanks a ton for your input.
How do i show them that i am applying on different websites, suchas indeed.ca.?

Sometimes interviews are part of IRCC’s quality checks where they select random applicants and nothing to do with your application.
Goodluck though!

Hello, just came across this thread and read the conversations above. I just received my ITA. And I left my job for which i claimed points three days ago. I have claimed work experience for one year from that job as I have enough points. As of today, i have worked for a total one 14 months,i.e July 2017 to August 2018.Thereason behind leaving the job is because i received iTA on 22nd august and they weren't not flexible with giving me leaves to collect required documents as it is a time consuming process in my case. Will it be a major issue?
To add, I have studied in Canada for a year, came back in june and started this job in july 17.

You need to have a plan - like take printouts of Indeed showing you are applying. Plus if you considering doing a diploma or something (or in cases where you need license to practice such as medicine, you may show you are looking forward to getting it and have researched on it) They may ask you what would husband do since he is self employed. So you need to communicate a plan and show some evidence that you are active at it. Also you may give a reason (family etc) for taking a gap from work and tell them that you just took a gap and intend to start again.

Its actually safer and better to show that you are working currently. However, you can probably write in LOE that you have planned to quit this job (maybe for lack of growth prospects in the organization) and once you submit this application, you will seek a job and start working. This way you would communicate that you have plans of working.

*I am not an expert in immigration purposes. However, everything I am quoting is backed by info from forums and having gone through other similar cases. A main reason for interviews is when the applicant is not working since some time (around more than a year) and yet has applied for FSW indicating that they would work in Canada. Another reason for interviews is when the employer of the applicant is actually a relative/family of the applicant and hence they ask for more details about work experience there. Another reason is when they are not convinced about job duties that you performed (probably your qualification is in engineering and you are doing a job in marketing).

Thanks much UmairS. I really appreciate your suggestions. I am going to get all that done. Thanks once again.
