Hi everyone,

I submitted my wife's sponsorship application and within 2 weeks or so I received a call from immigration (a 905 number) that they'd like to setup an interview with my wife who is currently in morocco.

Reading from forum I get the impression that interviews are typically requested after the medical is requested. May be im just paranoid.

Has anyone been asked for an interview before the request for their medical came?
Is it odd that my wife has been requested to attend an interview so soon?

That's new ! I thought they sent a letter to the applicant with the date and time for an interview....that's what they did to my wife anyway...

Well they said that an email will be sent with the specifics but the main question is, do they do interviews before the medical. Im still waiting for the email to be sent (they said it will be sent 24 to 48 hours) which will state the specifics.

I don't think they would call 2 weeks just after you submitted your application.
Have you received file number?

I have received calls from area code 905 in the past and they were all Scams.

Sorry I meant to say it has been three weeks (I submitted it on May 17, 2019).

Now u said it was a scam. I am aware of the types of scams here in Canada but this is new, to scam someone regarding your immigration?

Did u get a call from supposedly the immigration asking for an interview but did get any email? I just got the call today. The caller said I should receive an email within 24 to 48 hours with the specifics. He only mentioned to me that my wife bring her passport.

Read your post and decided to share experience about that immigration scam. It seems kind of too early for your interview. I would call them back and ask if this is really true...

As for scams. Back in 2015 my husband applied for pr express entry and someone called him, gave some of his personal info: file number and so on and said that his file was refused. It was a nightmare for my husband for the whole day!!!!!!!!! until we started to think logically that immigration won’t just call like friends and tell about refusals. No changes on ecas, no letter... he called them back and it turned out it was a scam!!! So always verify about why calls you and what they ask for with the CIC! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
Yeah I think so ass well. Its just too early for the interview. Thanks for the advice. Ill definitely make an inquiry abt this to confirm whether it was a prank call or not.

Thanks everyone for you help :)

Wait for the email before you do anything. I assume you didn't give them your email? But since they have it on file they'll just send it?

I do think it's very early for an interview, now that I think about it.

I think it might be possible that those calls are coming from scammers. I have read some similar immigration scams filed by people at http://whycall.me since few months ago. I think you should contact immigration service and verify about this.
