Dear All,

My case for (Skilled worked through an arranged employment offer) PR application is in process through the London visa office, and they have requested my medical results which I submitted to them on 25th Jan 10.
After that, they have sent me an letter requiring me to attend an interview in the Abu Dhabi office with my original passpost, and various other original documents (UAE visa, Educational certificates, Proof of funds, etc....)

Does anyone know if Abu Dhabi visa officer has the authority to take the final decision, and visa issued immediately in UAE, or is it referred back to London?

Also I am wondering why I received the interview request after London received the medical results & right of landing fee.....Isn't medical exam usually the final step?

Hi ather,

Can you post your timeline just so we have an idea of which batches from the London office are being called for an interview.

When and where are you scheduled? Some forum members say that you can have an idea for the reason based on the kind of documents they request you to bring on the date of the interview.

So don't feel disheartened because it looks like more and more applicants from Abu Dhabi are being called for an interview.

Hi ather,

I don't have an AEO. I am a physiotherapist which falls under the 38. They also sent me the email for an interview right after they requested for the medicals and RPRF.

At least you have an idea of why they called you for the interview. They might just need to confirm the validity of your AEO. You still have time to collect all the documents you can think of to support your AEO. I understand how you feel and there is really nothing else for us to do but pray and hope that our honesty is enough to get us through the interview.

You can send me a pm instead if you want.

HI
i have one confusion in my mind. In AEO cases normally there is no need to show proof of funds but in our interview letter they have also asked to bring documentry evidence for proof of funds. what u think about this? i have sent one email to CHC London to confirm this confusion. if u have any idea about this plz let me know thanks

As far as I know, you do not need to show proof of funds if you have an AEO. Just make sure that you have all documents pertaining to your AEO on the date of your interview. My interview is scheduled on March 8, just a day after yours.

Hi ather - I have the same confusion. Did London respond to you on this proof of funds issue yet? Please share the response....My interview is also a day after yours.....It would be great to know what questions they asked?

Hmmm.....if this is true, it is only sensible that they would ask for some documents relating to the AEO in the interview request form, but they haven't asked about me to carry any such documents....have they asked you?

Hi AUH Process,

To one of your query in this post relating to your Husband fulfilling his residency obligation, here is my take based on experiance of my friend.

If your husband enters Canada even after the 3 yr has elapsed he will not lose his residency provided he goes for renewal after staying in canada for 730 days. Understand he might have his PR card expired but still the rule is one has to have been in canada for a total of 2 yrs in the last 5 yr period, so he can still renew even if his card has expired provided he shows 730 days of continuos stay in the last 5 yrs. You can also check this in the CIC website relating to fulfilling residency obligation column.

Seniors correct me if I am wrong. I am saying this because I know my friend renewed his PR in November 2009, but moved to Canada in November 2007 and his initial 5 yr period was expiring in Sept. 2009.

Hi AUH Process,

Here are the exact versus from the link I sent which pertains to Residency Obligation,

Even if a person had resided away from Canada for many years, but returned to Canada and
resided there for a minimum of 730 days during the last five years, that person would comply with
the residency obligation and remain a permanent resident. An officer is not permitted to consider
just any five-year period in the applicant’s past, but must always assess the most recent five-year period preceding the receipt of the application.

Rgds

Max
