Hi,

Please have a look at Educational factor section in the Instruction guide for permanent residence. According to those criteria, you would fall into " A one-year diploma, trade certificate or apprenticeship AND at least 12 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study".
in that case, award yourself 12 points.
Good luck

You have 12th Standard + 5 years internship = 17 years of total Education

You will get 22 points according to below lines of Education Factor.

22 points = A three-year diploma, trade certificate or apprenticeship AND at least 15 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study

You have 13 years of working experience, It means 21 full points for Work Experience.

You are Plumbers NOC 7251. CIO has got only 9 Plumber in 5 months, Please refer below link
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/complete-applications.asp

You have great chance to get Canada Permanent Visa.

Good Luck

Hi,
An Internship (paid or unpaid) could be done on full time as part of a full time or a part time academic program. If you take a very closer look at Tariq's situation, he has done only an internship for a period of five years, not as a part of any academic course (certificate, diploma or a degree in Plumbing) after his high school completion. As you know, to be awarded points, any educational qualification need to be accredited by an accreditating body , approved by the ministry of education in his country. if his educational qualification (his five years of training) are not accredited, he will not be awarded any points for that, simply, his internship was not done in combination of an accredited academic program. (hasib, Im sorry for not being able notice your question earlier )

So , Tariq's question was, if he could claim 20 points for 17 years (12+ 5 yrs training) of his education. Yes he could, but he wont be awarded 20 points. To give you a better idea, I have a similar situation like Tariq has. I have a complete (12 Yrs secondary + 7 Yrs post secondary) = 19 years of education plus 2 years of intership (comes to 21 years in total, Paid, in the US) as a part of the degree. However, i could only claim 22 points (didn't have Master degree) although i wanted 25 points as i had 19 years of fulltime education and, all educational qualifications required accreditation. The point is, in order for Tariq to claim 20 points, his five years of workplace training (internship, whether private or govt.) required to be a part of an accredited degree or diploma program in Plumbing. I am not an expert, but this is how it worked . Please know that this is not a discouragement or an argument. Hope this will clarify you and Tariq the reason why he would not be awarded 20 points.
Good luck

Hi,
According to sections 6.3 and 12.2 in OP 6, Federal skilled worker manual, (http://www.cic.gc.ca/English//resources/manuals/op/op06-eng.pdf) he may not be awarded 22 points.
