Internship incl. Scholarship at the UBC for 5 month - which visa to apply for?

Hey there,

I'm from Germany and 30 years old (will turn 31 while in Canada next year).

I have an offer for an internship at the UBC Vancouver from April till end of August. They will pay me 500 CAD/month as kind of an scholarship (in their official invitation they call my position "visiting scholar") so I will definitely need some kind of work permit.

So now I wonder if a work and travel visa would also be ok for that position. I'm trying to find out with the canadainternational- website but it takes hours to load any new page which makes it quite a long way to go.
Could anyone of you help me with that? What are the conditions- can I be older that 30 at all?

I would prefer a work and travel visa as I could stay in Canada longer without any problems. How likely is it to get one? Would you suggest to apply for the regular work permit at the same time?

And - is there any chance to call anyone to get all these questions (and more) answered officially? As the websites of the german and austrian offices aren't loading properly it gets kind of annoying to gather all information...

Anyways, thanks so much for your help!!

Visitor, as that's the purpose of your travel. www.cic.gc.ca is the website for you to learn more of your visiting.

I'm not so sure about that. I will receive money and I'm not a student anymore. So I don't think I'll be entering only as a visitor ??!
