Hi All,

I am looking at taking up this program "International Trade and Freight Forwarding Diploma" at Brighton College, BC.

This is a 39 weeks program, could anyone please advise if it is suitable for Canadian experience class category and would help in getting points for a PR?

I am not clear with the process, could anyone please help. Thanking you.

To qualify for Canadian Experience Class, you need at least one year of full time work experience in Canada.

The program you have selected is less than 8 months and won't qualify for a post graduate work permit. If your aim is to qualify for CEC, you need to take a program that is a minimum of one full year.

@Scylla.

Thanks for updating about the selected course. I guess I should take up an extra module or certificate along with it to extend the study by 1 year.
Also the NOC 1521 - Shippers and Receivers is under category C - Though I would like to pursue a career in the said field, but it wont qualify for immigration. Thanks.

There is no education requirement under the CEC class. You might get ponits for it. You might be eligible for a PGWP (ithe length would depend on how long it takes to complete the program as a full-time student - probably one year).

and if I end up in the
NOC 1521 - Shippers and Receivers is under category C will my work experience be counted?

You already know it will not.. However, if you work your way up to supervisor/manager (NOC1215) that does count.

An alternative is to look into the provincial program of the province in which you want to live.... some of them (not sure which) accept NOC C level applicants (but not under express entry).

Thank you so much for providing the required information and your thoughts. I will go through the provincial link for other details.

SORRY Septimus - I can`t edit my above post, I don`t know what I was thinking. PGWPs are only for full-time students, if you attend part-time, you will not be eligible for a PGWP.
