not a wise decision... as u r a mother so i can understand ur psychology but how will you convince the VO that at the same time how can you give time to ur study and baby .. how will u manage time with ur baby and study.. bcz ur basy is still 1 year old and need lots of care and consideration from your side and u wanna apply for MS ,,, do you know u have to work over long hours in labs, class room, seminars and other things as a part of ur MS academics.. for getting the VISA first u have to convince VO and then rest will work ,,,

and i can also understand that u can left ur baby behind in ur native country and u have to think about this.. this is not a question of getting Visa ... this is a question that really can u handle this situation of study and baby care in parallel. .

so think maturely as its a sensitive issue..

now comes to your other Q.

you will get 20 hours/ week work authorization,,, may be after 6 months or consent from ur department to work outside Uni. premises. yes your husband will get full time work permit so called OPEN WORK PERMIT. he can work for any employer, any location , any job...no restriction..

surely study duration gonna be a very hard part of your stay in Canada and you have to think twice before landing.. you should have a excellent financial backup for your family (you, husband, and child) as Canadian govt. not gonna give you health benefits like the Canadian permanent residence/ citizen avail. you have to purchase private health plan for ur whole family. its may be costly depends on the service u want in ur health insurance plan. you can talk with some health insurance company in ur native country and get an estimate idea of cost of health insurance.

if your husband by luck get comparable job to foster you and baby then you can afford the living expenses and other things...

but for tuition fee you need a backup in one shot..

other things that can be a part of ur expenses could be..

1. traveling
2. Living
3. food
4. clothing
5. kitchen
6. medicines
7. day to day normal expenses.
8. tuition cost
9. baby care expenses
10. expenses related to your academic... thesis, projects, books, other..

so think twice before any action...

anything left,,, ask me...

I disagree with this part here....Provincial health care covers students and those on open work permit with dependents.
Reason 1 - Study permit holders - already pay for this in their fee ( it is subsidized) - It is a mandatory fee so all students in all provinces have health care with dependents if any.
Reason 2 - Husband being on open work permit needs to show work permit in a registry to get free provincial health care. It is technically not free because he will be paying taxes and health is one of the things tax payers pay for.

Everything else gkb8062 said is correct and you must make a wise decision. Life as a student with a small baby will be challenging. Also it will not be very easy for your husband to find an equivalent job in canada as soon as he comes - might take upto 6 months.

I asked the same question and I was guided that I should apply for study visa. Adding kid and spouse in the application makes it weak.
Spouse and Kid travel on separate TRV visa ( means not part of your application). Once in Canada then student can apply for Open work permit for spouse but my question is what about kid ?

The kid will be there in Canada on TRV. The rule is that one can stay only max for 6months on TRV but my study is for 2 years so want my kid in Canada for 2 years. What to do for that ?

????? Confused!! As far I know, If I want to go for study, My spouse can also apply for and have an open work permit for same length of my study!!And my dependent child also can join me as long as I am there! I am just asking that - If we could bare the expense to maintain ourselves, Study, daycare all perfectly or not??!!! :)

U wont get a work permit for 6 months....ur souse may get a work permit right away. Depending on ur spouses profile jobs may be difficult to find....like good professional jobs due to lack of canadian experience . So be prepared to pay for ur tuition it is very difficult to manage ur tuition by doing odd jobs. If however ur spouse gets a good job then it maybe manageable. I would say u should bring enough money for atleast first 6months for everything fees living and baby expenses as finding job may take a while

Hi dEWGIRL....,
If you have enough financial resources you can manage easily...I don't know about your financial status..I am studying here with 2 kids and believe me things are going pretty well, I even don't have my husband around.....not only me..I know few women who arrived with babies or give birth to babies and studied along....it depends on management and support of your husband....he can work in night shifts and stay home during day,you can hire baby sitting, nanni for few hours to get rest and study..there are many options depends upon your own circumstances and mutual decision and commitment....best of luck!

My Financial status is not on that high condition like bringing full tution fees and all! :-[ We can bring sufficient amount for first 6 months. I need your advice sadia jalil about studying with kids and expense for baby care and nanny and all. How I can contact you???

** I heard from 2014 students can do off campus work from first day!! is it true?

dew girl..as I said to you circumstances counts a lot...upto my knowledge studying in Canada isn't an easy choice when financial circumstances are not favourable...specially with kids...may be some other comment who succeeded to do this way...but my assumptions illustrates that one must have tution fee arranged..working here can help with living expenses or some portion of fee...but entirely depending on it will not help....living with a family isn't cheaper even...you need a separate accommodation, and other expenses....where I am based its quite expensive than other places....you can do your work out for comparatively cheaper places like Saskatchewan, Manitoba and may be Nova scotia....make an extensive search than match to your circumstances....ask God to choose the best for you...outcome will be good IA...wish you all best of luck.!
