Hello folks,
I would really appreciate your advice on my score. I get a score of 446 and I am wondering if I do something wrong.
Below are some points that affect my score:
- MBA from a Canadian University
- Master degree from a foreign university
- 12 months of full-time work for a Canadian financial institution
- 31-year old

Basically I was expecting a way higher score. I am concerned that I missed something in my application. I am not sure all my education is being counted and I am not sure how the job offer works (I have been working for over 12 months so I believe that doesn't count as a job offer).

My fear is that after years of study and a great amount of money brought into this country, I will never get selected because of my score.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Might be your english score. Try to improve on that.

Are you in ontario? You can apply through ontario pnp after being invited to apply.

Did you include foreign skilled work experience if any?

With this profile you should be able to score more than 450 points.

It must be your language scores that are bringing you down. Please share your scores by section r/w/l/s.

Firstly, your score is not at all bad. With this score, you are eligible to receive PT NOI from Ontario. Once you get an invite, you will have 45 days to submit your OINP Application Package to be considered for nomination. On successful nomination from Ontario (PNP), additional 600 points shall be added to your existing score, as result of which your score would become 1046 making you eligible to receive an ITA for PR.

Considering your work experience, it is better to target Ontario, as Toronto region is the hub of the Canadian financial industry – banks, investment firms, pension funds and insurance companies. Toronto is home to the head offices of Canada’s five largest banks, three of which rank among the world’s largest 25 banks by market capitalization. In 2014, for the seventh year in a row, the World Economic Forum ranked Canadian banks as the soundest in the world. Toronto also is the Canadian headquarters for the vast majority of foreign banks operating in Canada, including four of the world’s largest banks.

Please note, if the work experience that you have gained in Canada is on study permit, then that experience will not be counted for Express Entry.

Most of your english skills are on clb band 9, only your speaking is on band 8, and that's the reasons that your crs is sub 450. If you can retake the test and score 9 on speaking. Your crs will jump to 454.

I work for one of those Financial Institution...

I received an invitation to apply for Ontario PNP but I haven't accepted because I thought it wasn't needed and it costed more than 1,000 dollar.

I have 9 year of work experience overseas, would that count? Any industries is taken into account?

I reported my Celpip score above. Would the IELTS be better ( I took the Academic Ielts and the GMAT before).

I worked 9 years overseas in a different industry from my current one. Would that count?

No, just re-take the CELPIP test and score above 9 in all elements of Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening. Your speaking score is worth another 8 CRS points on the CRS points grid.

No need to redo the language tests. It seems you did not include your foreign work experience, but you will get decent points for that.

You should add your foreign work experience to your profile if you haven't already (provided you can prove it and as long as it is in NOC 0, A or B). You only need to include an additional three years to score max points.

With your foreign work exp included, you should get 496 points - which will pretty much guarantee you an ITA in the next round.

Play around with this tool:

yes include your foreign work experience as long as you are able to get reference letters to prove that you performed those jobs and they were either noc 0, a or b jobs.

If you include at least one year of foreign experience you will definitely receive an ITA. No need to retake english test. Your score will be 472. Remember that this foreign experience must be continuous and in one occupation.

I think there is something you are not cliking right.
You should definitely be higher than what you are currenty awarded.
You have Canadian exp, you have foreign work experience. you have two masters. Come on, look at the profile see what you are not clicking right. I think you are making a mistake somewhere. I can almost bet on that.

Yes as mentioned by caputmundi, it will count. For more details about Express Entry you can refer to this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/notices/2014-12-01.asp.

I have added the Masters I did overseas but it seems it doesn't count...any ideas why?Would I need some Canadian assessment? I thought they would still add points...

Also, the working experience overseas was in the Military and I am not sure if it will be considered. There is a 4313 NOC but it says Canadian Armed forces.

It would be disappointed because there are so many jobs that require less training and with less transferable skills that would count.

And yes, you folks are all right because with the working experience or more than 8 on the Speaking section my score increase over 450...

Not sure at this point if I should have proceed with the Ontario Nominee but a friend told me that is costly and will take 18 months or something. Therefore, I would rather re-do my Celpip again...(crazy how I had to take an Academic Ielts, a GMAT, study 2 years in a top business school, and get penalized because of this Celpip...)
