I am an International student studying a two-year diploma program, and i am about to start the second year of my program. I already have an off-campus work permit and SIN, so i gat a job already. However my girlfriend(Canadian citizen) and I are planning to get married soon. Please kindly suggest which method of PR application is most suitable for my situation i.e. in-land or out-land? Do i have to defer my study pending the outcome of the PR application? If the study is deferred, can i still work since i already have a work permit? If i dont have to defer my study, does the off-campus limitation still applies i.e. work full time during holidays and part-time during term time?
Your advice shall be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Your PR application will not have any effect on your study permit and off campus permit. You can keep studying and working as you have been.

inland = more waiting ,no right of appeal ,they might not renew your work permit but you will be next to your wife.
outland = less processing time ,right of appeal ,and you will not see your wife since she has to stay in canada for the time of processing your application but she can still visit.

Jinny you can stay in Canada and still submit an outland application. The outland application has no bearing on the residence of the applicant it just determines where the application is processed. You can chose to have it processed in the country of your birth or in your case since you have been admitted to Canada legally for a year you could apply through Buffalo.

Actually, he will be seeing his wife if he applies outland because he is an international student in Canada. Besides, even if he wasn't, since she is a Canadian citizen, she does not have to be in Canada to sponsor.

God, that was scary. I read that the sponsor had to be in Canada and my heart almost stopped. Thanks for clarifying (Canadian citizen sponsoring partner while living with him in England).

You can still study and work (with the same restrictions) while the application is being processed.
Whether it is better to apply inland or outland partly depends on what country you are from.
