international student applying for S.I.N

Are international students allowed to apply for S.I.N while on student permit.If yes how soon can they apply and what is entailed in the whole process?

Yes international students are allowed an SIN number. Further info can be found at service canada web site.

International students can apply for SIN, for tax purposes for example.

Go into google and type "service canada", the first seach result will be http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/ You than click on this with you left mouse button .........

International student can apply for SIN if only they have contract of employment from the learning institution or employer on campus where you obtained authorization to study by CIC (this contract must show the start and end date of employment and these dates must fall within the study permit dates).
