International Canadian Student Visiting Visa Help

Hello,
So my question is, I am going to Canada in the month of august or sept on a student visa, and my question is that I may travel to America in the month of december for Christmas. So I would like to know that if my
C-1D visa which is valid till 2015 can be used to enter America for a week and if i can what are the documents that i should be carrying along with me or should I have to apply for a new b1-b2 visa and if I have to apply for a b1-b2 visa, should I have to do it from India or will it be easy for me to go ahead land in canada and apply for it in the month of November so that I can travel in December to America for Christmas.

Hope some can guide me through this issue.

you cannot enter american without a visa (because you have an Indian passport). Applying for a visa by November will be too early. its not a good impression at least, you need to demonstrate dedication to your studies and stay in Canada for at least 6 months before you can apply to usa. you dont have to go back to India to apply (not quite sure about these), you can apply from Canada, i guess. and you should have enough money too, and a compelling reason why you have to visit Usa as a student since your ties towards canada will be few.

What about the C1D visa I already have!!! Can I use the transit visa to enter the country, as a transit visa holder is allowed for 29 days in the country.

What is my folks send me a invitation letter.
