Hi there,

I hope I am posting my question in the right category of this forum. I am thinking of an international adoption. I have done quick research for now and found that I need to use adoption agency licensed for international adoption which will cost $20,000 - $50,000. Is it must to use an agency or I can do the application myself ?

Thanks

1. It depends on the Province where you are residing. It is a 2 part process. Start your reading here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...s/canadians/adopt-child-abroad/processes.html

Thanks guys for prompt response. I have looked through the source PMM forwarded. In Ontario one has to use Adoption Agency as well which costs up to $50,000. I was wondering is there are any ways to do the application by myself

Thanks guys for your response. How about if I visit my country of origin and adopt my sister's child following all the rules of that country? Does it mean that as a Canadian citizen I have to receive Canada's Ministry of Children approval before I adopt my sister's child?

Is your sister's child an orphan? Are both parents deceased?

Does it mean that the IRCC will likely to approve only if the child's both parents deceased or adoption was done through the Canadian adoption agency?

Most likely to be approved if both parents are deceased and the child is an orphan. Otherwise IRCC will often view it as an adoption of convenience - meaning that your main reasons for adopting the child are to facilitate sponsorship / PR to Canada.

I have got the point about IRCC. How about if the child is an orphan? My question is if one wants to adopt a child (orphan) does he need to do the adoption through the Canadian adoption agency?

It also depends on where the child is from. Canada does not allow adoption from some countries. Agree that this will currently viewed as an adoption of convenience. Your best option is to keep supporting your sister and her child in their country. An immigration/adoption lawyer will give you an idea of what you need to do. Perhaps you should consider a consultation.
