Hi there,

I'm from Bangladesh. My girlfriend and I are from different religions and planning to get married following the Bangladesh GOVT approved rules & regulations. I've few questions regarding this;

1. Will there be any problem regarding the interfaith marriage?
2. Is there any specific duration required between getting married and applying for Canada Express Entry?
3. Which documents will I have to submit as proof of marriage?

Anybody please enlighten me....

It wont cause any issues, no one is looking at your faith in Canada for immigration pruposes, as long as you have a marriage certificate you should be fine.

In certain cases if marriage was conducted recently they may ask (although i doubt it) for additional evidence of prolonged relationship, like photos, e-mail hisotry... but i dont remeber seeing such requests recently.

Is it really that simple. I'm coming across more and more threads where interfaith marriages are viewed with suspicion. What options are there for an Indian Pakistani interfaith couple in which female is Pakistani Muslim.

1. Absolutely not. No one asks about your faith here.
2. NO. Some people even get married after applying and getting PPR and before landing. The key fact is if you get married (or have new born children) any time before LANDING, you have to inform IRCC. That's it.
3. Marriage certificate will suffice.

Good luck,

There shouldn't be an issue purely with interfaith marriages as long as the marriage is valid as per Canadian law.
If the Visa officer has any doubts, he may wish to ascertain the legitimacy of such a marriage to ensure that it isn't a marriage of convenience - entered solely for the purpose of attaining permanent residence.
To offer another instance, if an applicant has a second wife ( legally permitted in his home country, but has not officially divorced the first spouse) then such a marriage would not be considered valid in Canada.

I hope so. Keep hearing they reject couples because their marriage didn't meet the requirements of the local culture.
