Hi all,
I am planning to land in Toronto on 4th October with my family (wife and 2 kids),
My wife will be 5+ months pregnant when we land there.

Please suggest any good insurance from India I can buy and come or anything that is good which can taker care INSURANCE FOR PRE EXISTING CONDITION LIKE PREGNANCY, so that I can be going to Doctors visit, test, scans etc during those 23 months prior top OHIP

Thanks in advance
Nad

I have no suggestion for you, there have been many posts on the topic but it sounds like no one has been very successful in finding somewhere that covers it.

I did want to point out, ensure you knew that (I'm assuming it was a typo) its a 3 month waiting period.
Some suggestions have been to land in Alberta (for those later in their pregnancy) where insurance is immediate.

I contacted the 3 companies that I could find that did immigrant landing insurance in Ontario, TIC,Blue Cross and ETFS. Only EFTS did the insurance for the 3 months with pregnancy. The others didn't cover pregnancy.

I'm glad you found something that will cover you. Is it terribly expensive?

Just under CD$600 but that included 4 of us.

Nice, That's really good, I'd gladly pay that to be covered.

Dear Kellys,

I visited ETFS and could not find anything related to Pregnancy, could you please prvide where u got deyails

Thanks,
Nad

Hi Kellys,

Can you please provide the contact details of EFTS?

What is the full description of EFTS?

Thanks.

i did call ETFS, they said they do not offer an insurance that covers pregnancy, the insurance kellys got does not cover pregnancy. Nonetheless, you may call them and check!!

Hi All,
I would like to share another very key important information!! As I was worried initially about my wife being pregnant,

About her initial checkup and other costs like blood test ultrasound etc, as NO Insurance covers these for the OHIP wait period!!

One good news I want to share with all of you

I was recommended to Community health center by SAFSS (South Asian Family support service or newly called as Settlement and Family support service)

You may have to check for community health center which covers your residential area, WEST HILL Community center is what I went to, and now my wife got a family doctor associated and went through all the checkups tests including Ultrasound, and she will be referred to OBG also all these without any cost, the Ultra sound and test lab are private where they refers to and along with the prescription they provide a letter to charge the community health center and not to ask us for money. so everything went as if we have OHIP

That is really very nice!! Please do make use of these community health center, I suggest first to visit SAFSS also!!

Warm regards,
Nadeem

i'm having hard time believing they will cover pregnancy
they make money off you by, hoping that you dont make any claims.
would they cover pregnant women, knowing she will need to visit a doctor?

Kim,
Its not an inusrance company., I am talking about Community health center funded by Govt

Its all for free
