Hi there!
Applying with my Canadian boyfriend for a common law visa for me.
The problem is that my Working holiday has ended and I have to return on a visitors visa now.
Been reading about the different ways to apply for this and I have a couple of questions that I cant seem to
find the answer to.. Hope you can help!

How long is thw process time for an inland application?
Got told that I can only apply for a OWP with an outland appl, is that correct?
If I do that, and the spouse thing takes ages, how long is the OWP good for and is it easy to extend?
If Im on a tourist visa (which doesnt give me implied status, if im correct?) then how long am I allowed to stay in the country for on the same tourist/visitor visa? Apparently Im not allowed to leave the country while waiting for the spouse visa, so how does that work if my visa runs out...
Was hoping not to have to study since it's very $$

Thank you!
Jenn

where are you from? for most people applying outland is the best choice.

when you apply outland, you can stay in canada with your visitor visa, and 30 days prior to it expiring, you can apply to extend your stay. In your extension application, you will explain you are applying for PR status, show them proof and request a 12+ month extension. PR applicants are rarely denied extensions, and it is quite common to get a 12+ month extension. That way you can stay in canada as a visitor while your app is processing without worry of your status. This of course means you can not work for a canadian employer or participate in studies that are part of an academic program that lasts 6 mo. or more. You CAN work remotely for a non canadian employer and take classes not connected to an academic program (ie: language or prof development classes). With outland, there are no travel restrictions. While there is always a slight risk of being denied entry, CBSA actually is friendlier when you have a pr application submitted and chances of refusal are slim. If for some reason you are ever denied entry, nothing happens to your outland application, as it still continues processing.

Depending on where you are from, the owp that inland applicants get may not even be worth it. there are many people who are approved outland in about the same amount of time or only slightly longer than it does to receive the OWP. Then you are still waiting 2+ years for PR approval. If you leave canada with an inland app submitted and are denied entry for whatever reason, then your application is considered abandoned and will be cancelled.

Definitely Outland. In so many cases, it is just faster, and allows you to travel hassle free. Also there is often less chance of refusal.
