Hi, I asked for some advice yesterday on a thread but nothing was answered so thought I'd make a thread of my own to see if I could get some information this way :)

So up until very recently the idea was for my husband and I to apply for the inland visa as I am in Canada currently and have been since April 2018 (we married in July 2018) and I'm currently waiting for a decision on my visitor extension. However, i've since been reading that the outland route may be better for me due to appeal rights, faster processing, freedom to travel etc but I'd like to get more opinions from people who have gone via this route or if anybody thinks that applying inland may be better.

The biggest concern is that ideally I would have liked to work but seeing as the OWP can take 3-4mths it is appearing to make more sense to go for a faster processing option and if necessary I can always go back to the UK to work for a few months until the process is completed. Actually a question that I have is am I able to change my residence easily if I were to go back to the UK to wait for the process to end? Currently I reside in Canada or does that tend to cause delays when you make changes to your application?

As far as I'm aware our application isn't complicated, known each other for 6 years, been together for 2, this marriage is each others first, no criminal convictions etc so we're hoping for a smooth journey (if that is even possible!)

I'm from the UK in case this is important to know.

Thank you in advance for the help, it really is appreciated!

Processing times are similar for inland and outland these days. It comes down to your personal preference whether you want to do inland or outland.

I am wonder if you have asked this question, but it's good to note that you cannot switch your process from inland to outland. They are separate processes.
You can stay in Canada with visitor visa while applying outland but you are not expected to live outside of Canada if you apply inland.
Take a look at the London VO thread and look at the current processing timelines of others.
Then decide according to what is important to you. Good luck!

I am aware that we can't switch inland/outland during the process. I've also checked the London VO thread but wasn't getting any replies which is why I started a thread here but thank you for your response! One of the main questions was regarding residency as currently I am living in Canada but if the process takes a long time due to some unforeseen issues then I would return back to the UK and work until it is completed. I wondered if this change of residency is easily updated or causes time delays?

If you want to change your contact address you just submit a webform to let IRCC know. If you apply inland you can't go back to the UK for a few months because then you're not residing in Canada - inland applicants are advised not to leave the country for extended periods.
If you apply outland, you don't need to be living in Canada so that could be a more flexible route for you?

We're thinking that outland is the way for us to go and for me to move back to the UK after a few months if the process seems to be slow so that I can work & then come back. I was worried that changing address may complicate matters but from your response it seems quite simple, thanks!
