Inland SS & travelling during processing

Hi there,

I'm considering withdrawing an EE FWS application and undertaking an inland family class spousal sponsorship route for PR so I can work with an open work permit (i'm British and married to a Canadian). However, I'm unclear as to whether I can / should travel if we submit a SS application. I've consulted with 2 IRCC registered lawyers and both have given me contradictory info - I can travel freely whilst the application is being process vs. its not recommendable at all. Which is it? My intention is to travel for 2-3 weeks twice over the coming year and simply return to canada with my valid ETA.

Can someone please advise if this is 'safe' to do so if I've submitted an inland SS application.

Many thanks

In either answer, they didn’t tell you you cannot travel outside of the country. It is up to you to take the risk or no. There is always a risk that the CBSA refuse entry. Most people who travelled outside who shared their experience didn’t face any problem to enter again. The only time it wouldn’t make sense to travel outside is if you dont have a valid visa or ETA.

Ye I have an ETA valid for 5 years and would say theres no reason why I'd ever be denied entry, but have been unsure if this is a case of there is a risk and its up to the individual to acknowledge and be aware, or if its likely that an applicant would be denied as its a stated rule of inland sponorship

Check cic website. It tells you the same thing I said. Plus I added that many have shared their experience and didn’t have a problem at the border. The only risk is when denied the application is deemed abandoned. Going out of the country in itself doesn’t posed any risk.

I understand. We will travel too and I dont think there will be a problem. Just in case, my husband will keep the OWP with him, but as he travels with me and the baby, I dont see why they would refuse entry but this is always a possibility when you enter any country as it is the right of the BSA to deny entry.
