Hello
please permit to seek advice as regards to the Inland Spousal Open Work Permit Application during a Spousal PR Sponsorship Application. My spouse is a Permanent Resident in Ontario . We applied for her PR through the Sponsorship Program and also applied for an Open Work Permit through the Inland Spousal OWP Program at the same time. We sent both applications within the same package, back in the end of February 2021. We've recently received confirmation of receipt of the PR application and I have completed my biometrics, but we have yet to receive any indication of receipt in regards to the Open Work Permit Application. I know that the IRCC is extremely busy with the Afghanistan situation, but due to it, it is near impossible to contact them to ask any questions. My lawyer seems not to be specialized on immigration and seem not to have a lead way concerning the work permit.

Is it normal that we haven't had any feedback on the work permit application after more than 8 months?
I'm in Canada and cannot work . I have children to take care of and train in school. It's all frustrating.
Pls I will appreciate any detailed advice .

Hi,

It is normal not to hear anything about OPW application. Unfortunately, this is the situation at the moment. Why it is this way only IRCC knows. The answers you will find on this forum are purely speculative.

There is a way to find your OWP app online, by linking it to your gc key account. You need your UCI for this purpose. This is the only way you can find your OWP app as I know so far.

Hey there, learned this recently. I believe you might be able to apply for the open work permit after you receive the AOR which you have

'Once they receive their acknowledgement of receipt letter, they can apply for an open work permit. They must apply online. '

Hi friends,
I applied for spousal sponsorship around February 2021and subsequent biometrics which was acknowledged. Till date I have not gotten any permanent application number .
Recently my application was returned as an incomplete document. My lawyer forgot to include my siblings contact addresses. ( that was taken care immediately and posted back).
Pls, I want to know if my application is going back to stage one as am already in the 10th month of waiting .
I will appreciate your inputs

Was your full application returned as incomplete? If so, that generally means that it's treated as a brand new application when you resubmit. I assume the OWP was returned too? Did your lawyer incidate that you need to apply to restore your status?

I don't think my OWP was not returned; because he never mentioned it to me. However, I have to get more information from my lawyer. I only saw the said page for siblings contact addresses, completed same and appended my signature.

Additional, they attached a letter indicating I should provide my siblings contact addresses and sign manually.

Yes . I just confirmed that everything was returned. And right now they've issue me another's acknowledgement of receipt with a fresh temporary application number. Jess!
This lawyer has messed me up. Pls how long may this take again?

Dear friends, I just made up my mind to withdraw the services of my lawyer. He messed me up . Pls can anyone recommend an experienced immigration lawyer to help redeem my situation?
