Hi folks, I have a simple question, I am sponsoring my wife and we sent the inland application in February 2014. up until now we haven't received any letter from the CIC yet. I did try check the status with my receipt number but nothing come up. and the website of CIC state that they start reviewing the applications received on july 2013. I wonder how many days from the day I sent the application until I receive any information from CIC? I ask some my friends, they say their cases (the whole process) only take about 6 to 8 months and they get the PR card. I just wonder when I should receive a letter from CIC to provide me the client ID number so I can check my online status, or is this normal to wait about 6 months without any letter from CIC at all?

thank you guys so much if you can drop a line and help me to understand this process a bit more.

I'm not sure I understand. You haven't been waiting six months if you sent the application in February 2014.

It took three months before I received AOR (just a letter saying CIC got my app, "acknowledgement of receipt"). Until you get a UCI number, you likely won't have much luck finding anything on ECAS.

I won't use the word "impossible," but I think it's highly, *highly* unlikely that you will have a PR card in hand within 8 months after applying. Perhaps your friends applied outland through a fast VO? Or perhaps they applied for PR through some stream other than the family class?

Agree 100%. Those 6-8 month PR card recipients MUST have been 'outland' applicants. Impossible that they were 'inland'.

It WAS possible to get a PR in 6-8 months in 2007 e.g. But now the waiting time for the first stage approval is 9 months. Than a few more months for the PR. And because of the transfer, no one got AOR since February 4, someones waiting since January 14th.
See the timeline at the bottom of my post.

Check processing times. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp

Its 9 months + 8 months (+ 51 days for them to mail the PR Card to you). Plus if you havent done your medicals yet, there will be a time between when they ask for meds, and when you do them and send them in, so lets add 1 more month for that, plus other delays. You are looking at basically 20 months. Hope it goes faster, but you should be prepared to wait 20 months.
