My husband is Canadian and we have submitted our Inland spousal sponsorship application with my two dependent children included in this application... submitted a month ago. Our visitor visas will be expiring soon... I intend to apply for open work permit at this point ( does anyone know length of processing time for this?)
and for my children, they are attending public school now...do I apply for visa extension for them? which forms do I fill?

On another matter...should I purchase some health/medical insurance for children and I, while we are waiting to hear of approval of PR?

Any information and advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You should have included the OWP application WITH the PR application. On what other basis are you eligible for an open work permit? You'll need to apply for visa extensions for each of you I suspect. It would be in your best interest to obtain insurance, at least until you become eligible to apply for provincial health care.

Yes I should have applied OWP together ( was not fully prepared and there was a matter of timeline to submit application ASAP...i needed submission receipt in order to get my children registered for school starting September). I have read that waiting spouse /applicant of spousal sponsorship may apply for OWP.
Thanks for advise...its best we do get insurance for kids and I while we wait...
