Hi All

My Wife is currently here in Canada, we got married overseas in JAN 2014, then she applied for a tourist visa around July to come here.

She got approved for a multi-entry Visa that expires in 2017. She's been here for a month and has a return ticket to leave Canada on November, but she wants to stay.

They didn't stamp her passport with a date to leave. so I assume she can stay for 6 months (correct me if I'm wrong). We wish to apply for an inland sponsorship, since process time is faster when compared to Outland.

I'm a Canadian Citizen, Working Full-Time, She is form Venezuela

I have a few questions in regards to the application.

1) If we apply inland, she needs to stay here, for that do we will need to extend her stay? (her visa expires on 2017)

2) We don't want her to lose status, how do we avoid it? apply for an OWP along with inland sponsorship?

Any Suggestions Would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi

To answer both questions, including an OWP app with an inland PR app will allow her to stay.

The posted processing times for outland aren't averages; it's how long it took to process 80% of apps. 79% are done faster than that. Before you rule out outland, heading over to the Mexico thread and see how long it's been taking others recently.

Thanks for the reply!.

After the 6 months of her stay, do I need to extend her visit, like apply for something?

Not if you apply Inland with an OWP application included before her current status expires. That will give her Implied Status after the initial 6 months stay expires until CIC makes a decision on the OWP app after first stage approval.

If you apply outland, then she will need to extend her visitor status prior to the 6 months expiring. She could request a longer stay, such as a year, based on having a PR app in process.
