Hello,
I am an international student that just began her master degree (just arrieved to canada, but i've visited it many times before).
My boyfriend who has canadian citizenship asked me to marriage (we were on a relationship for more than 3 years)
and I dont know how to proceed, I dont wanna loose my studies during the process of the inland sponsorship.
Please I need your advices about what to do and how to begin with all this, and what are the steps to follow (from marriage to the sponsorship). / Is there a timeline that we shouldn't exceed between the marriage and the sponsorship?
I'm really lost, I need your help please.
Thanks !

No you don’t need to wait for anything. Just get married and apply for spousal sponsorship.

You can include open work permit within your application if you are inside Canada. Also if you just want to keep studying to can’t apply work permit as it will change your status from student to worker and then you can’t study on work permit.

by law there is no a timeline for you to be able to apply for PR under spousal sponsorship, its important that you are able to submit the supporting documents with your application , so most of the time couples wait at least for the marriage certifica if married in Canada, if you are already in
Canada and want to remain in Canada while your application is in procession can apply for inland sponsorship and apply for an open work permit at the same time , you also have the option that even being in Canada apply for outland sponsorship but when the times come you will need to finish the process at your nearest or local consulate. the first step for you is to gather the application package from the cic.gc.ca website selecting you country of nationality and Canada if you are applying inland and gather all the documents and forms in your checklist. for spousal sponsorship there are not minimum income requirement from the sponsor but still should be able to support you and provide the basic needs, so usually job letters, notice of assessments if self employment , or Official bank account letter/statements can be use as proof that your spouse/sponsor is able to provide the basic needs. I hope my answer helps you if you have any other question let me know! good luck

Thanks for your answer. But if I want to keep my study permit, how can I proceed ?
And will I pay all the fees for my institution as an international student while the spousal sponsorship is being processed or the fees will get lower ?

No you still have to pay intentional tuition feed . It’s good idea to talk to your college about that. If you just wana keep studying don’t apply for work permit, just keep your study permit. If you apply for work permit you can’t study anymore.

you can extend your stay as student and at the same time you will be able to work part time , but you will be still considered international student until you are legally a permanent resident , so you will need to balance if you remain as a visitor until your work permit arrive and you work in the mean time and scarify that year , so then you will be able to save a tons of money in the tuition , you could also be able to apply for a student loan as a permanent resident , so I will take that in consideration
