Hi there all,

I hope you can help me with my query below.

My husband submitted my sponsorship on 26 Sept 2018, and I have done my medicals in December which has been submitted with no issue. I am waiting for my eligibility check to be completed. My Temporary Resident Visa or Visitor Visa expires in June 2019, and I am currently living with my husband in Canada.

Do I need to extend my TRV if the sponsorship will only be done (according to CIC timelines) in Sept 2019 and if so, how do I go about it?

Thanks so much,
Yachna

Did you not apply for OWP?

No I didn't, I thought it was part of the same sponsorship docs. Do you think an OWP or Visitor Visa Extension is better? They both $100, but I worry that if the OWP doesn't come through in time, my TRV will expire before I can apply for just an extension.

OWP is $255, not $100.

The difference is you can work with the OWP, you can't on a visitor visa. It takes about 4 months to receive so I'm not sure how much good it was do for you at this point.

If you do not apply for the OWP you will need to maintain status as a visitor throughout processing.

Thanks I will probably apply for the extension and the OWP. Thanks so much for your help.
