Hello! I am stuck with IMM 5332:

9. Were there formal ceremonies or events to recognize or celebrate your relationship?
-- We had a civil wedding ceremony at the city hall with sponsor's parents and principal applicant's aunts (sisters of the PA's father) since parents cannot attend due to time and financial constraints. I (PA) was wearing a white short dress with bouquet and sponsor was wearing a dress suite and pants (no tuxedo). Then we had a little reception (lunch) with friends and wedding cake and etc..

Is that considered formal?

One more thing, I am from the Philippines and he is a citizen here in Canada. Would that be considered against the cultural norm since we didn't have a church wedding or a big one?

Is it a cultural norm to have a big wedding in your country and would it be against the cultural norms to have a small wedding over there in general? Or do people over there have small weddings too sometimes and it’s considered normal?

Its totally normal. Even my parents had a court wedding with no guests 25 years ago. But most people opt for big wedding in church or beach to impress people lol

Then it should be ok I’m sure especially if you have the other proofs of your relationship like time spent together before you got married etc.
