Inland sponsorship - Ecas and call centre update?

Hi guys!

So I'm kinda getting paranoid over here. We were asked for additional documents on March 31st (Police record check from Hong Kong which we needed to send away for and Hong Kong police send to CIC) and by about April 5th everything was sent off and out of our hands. We got a letter from Hong Kong police saying everything was processed and sent away. Our deadline for this was June 29th.

Today we called in to see if it had been received yet and the agent said no. It's been well over a month now. :S

So my question is this... is it normal for call centre agents to not be able to see when something such as this was received? Has anyone had experience with this? Our ecas hasnt been updated either. Is it possible that the record check was received but not updated in the system? Im so worried.

When additional documents are needed, CIC will often flag your application with a date by which the documents must be recieved (in your case June 29th) and then set the application aside until this date (i.e. stop working on it entirely). So it's quite possible they won't even look at your file again until June 29th or even check to see if the documents request have been received. I don't think it's at all surprising there are no updates in ECAS. Someone has to physically enter information into ECAS for an update to appear. If the agent handling the file isn't going to pick up the application again for another month - there aren't going to be any updates in ECAS to see until sometime after that date.

Sometimes the agent will pick up your file before the deadline and start working on it again if the requested documentation has arrived. But it's also possible your application will see zero activity until July. This can be one of the downsides of sending documents later unfortunately (rather than with the original application).

Ugh man! That sucks. Hong Kong won't release the record checks without the letter from CIC requesting it. I heard some agents may do that. Which I kind of get but omg, haven't inland applicants suffered enough. Geez
