<Medical requirements>
Medical instructions
You must undergo an upfront medical examination by contacting a Panel Physician.

Note: When medical results are submitted up-front, routine cases benefit from faster processing since we do not have to request them at a later date. If you choose to have an upfront medical exam, you must submit proof that you completed the medical examination with your application. Failure to do so may result in processing delays.

This guide confused me. But, I think it's better to have medical exams before applying for PR.

My husband had his medical last week in London. He was given no document, only his receipt for payment. We had been told that this receipt stands as proof of medical taken. This receipt goes into our application packet as proof of medical exam.

His exam results will get to CIC before our application.

Is this not correct procedure?
I also only turned in my 'receipt' from my medical exam with my application. I haven't heard anything to the contrary about my application, which they got this past Dec, so I am assuming that it is OK to use the receipt as proof. :D

Even if you don't have to do a medical upfront you'd be an idiot not to.

It's a fairly simple thing to arrange (especially in Canada) and will take the guts of a morning to complete. CIC state having it done in advance will speed up processing too. Just do it right before you submit you application as it's only valid for a year and you want to get maximum validity time out of it.
