Inland Outland pros and cons

Hi,
I've been putting together my inland application but now I noticed that the waiting time for outland applications is specific for each country. Rome (I'm italian) has a waiting time of 12m versus 26m for the inland application. What are the pros and cons of applying outland vs inland? From what I understand 1) the possibility of having to go to Rome for an interview 2) having to include a statutory common law declaration. I have a work permit that expires in sep 2017 and have been in canada for 2 years and a half (living with my sponsor). If I apply inland I can apply for an OWP while applying outland I'd have to hope to get PR before my current one expires. Will applying outland vs inland affect my ability to travel to and from Canada?

Thanks

Inland process usually takes longer to finish. CIC considers that your are already together in Canada so why to hurry with finishing the process?

For what purpose? For a couple of weeks or to live outland? Usually you should stuck inland if have applied inland, and it is not easy to enter Canada again when you are in outland process.

Another difference to consider is that if you apply inland, you cannot appeal CIC's decision if it is negative. Also, because you already have a work permit you dont have to worry about maintaining status or traveling outside of Canada, which is one of the only drawbacks of applying Outland. In your shoes, I would apply outland because it is extremely likely you would receive full PR far before your work visa expires in September 2017. Check out one of the Outland Spreadsheets and see what the timelines are for applications through Rome to give yourself a better idea.. CIC's official waiting times can be inaccurate.

The statutory common law declaration IMM5409 can be done in one day, you just need a printer and a notary public - it's a very small form. I wouldn't let it impact your decision.

Hi

1. There is pretty much no chance of being called for an interview.

2. The Stat Dec is not required.

With an outland app, you can leave Canada without risking the app. With an inland app, you can leave but if you are refused re-entry (unlikely for an Italian but could still happen), your PR app is cancelled.

Apply outland.

" This form must be completed and signed by the sponsor and common-law partner, only if the latter is a co-signer on the application"

Do you have a co-signer ?

I have a work permit and re entry visa that expire at the same time..if I apply outland and leave Canada to the states which is 20 min away from me and re enter to Canada before the expiration date will I get a 6 month visa with a stamp in the border? Or should I apply TRV before he expiration date .

Thank you for your advice. I wonder why CIC doesn't say explicitly that you can apply outland even if living in the country.

actually it does suggest it in the Inland Application. it's 1 line that is easily skimmed over by many.

It sort of does, but not exactly:

The person being sponsored can apply to a visa office outside Canada to take advantage of the family class processing standard. Processing times for applications processed in Canada are posted online.

It doesn't explicitly state you can do this if you are inside Canada. Unless you are talking about another line.
