Inland or Outland application?

We are planning to get married in the next couple of months and been dating for a year now with proof of our relationship. The big question is do I fly to Canada to get married and apply inland, that way I get to stay with my husband or is it better outland (going to break my heart leaving him for up to 9 months).

Anyone been there and done it Inland? What do you tell them at Immigration when you arrive, that you there to visit your boyfriend? Is it easy to get your visa extended to remain in Canada?

Any help would be gladly appreciated.

Well you need to apply for the visitors visa.And if you get approved who knows.If you say you are doing the process and your going to visit your boyfriend you need to be very convincing to immigration that you will return at the end of your visa.And applying inland is a longer process than outland.
But outland will be done at the visa office responsible for your country and you may be required to return for an interview at the end of the process.So i guess its up to you, apply for the visa see if you get it hen decide on the marriage.Thenyou need to decide what you are going to do the inland or outland its up to you.

Inland and outland each have their pros and cons. It is not true that you have to leave Canada to apply outland. You can still stay in Canada on a visit visa and when it's about to expire, you can apply to extend, just as you would with inland.

With inland, if all goes well, you get first stage approval and chance of an open work permit in about 6 months and PR in 12-18 months. If it doesn't go well, you don't get first stage approval but are forwarded to local office for an interview which may take up to 1-3 years to get, depending on how busy they are. It is not advised to leave Canada during inland processing.

With outland, your in-Canada processing to approve your husband as sponsor takes 1-2 months and after that it goes to the visa office you have chosen, country of nationality or legal residence and you can see processing times for that here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/05-fc-spouses.asp The only downside with outland is that if they ask for an interview, you would have to go to the processing country.

This is all so nerve wrecking...... so nervous I arrive there with a visitors visa and get asked the question....are you here to get married? So nervous of being turned away.

The Inland may take longer but my partner earns a good salary and could support us and I have saved up quite a fair some of money myself.

I guess my worst fear is arriving there and being asked the question at arrival, to be turned away...... and getting my visa extended if we do get married there.....Other then that we don't mind the long wait as long as we could be together. Been so hard being apart. We last physically saw each other the end of January this year.
