I am currently an International Student and my student visa is actually going to expire this August. My girlfriend (Canadian citizen) and I are getting married this July and we are planning to apply for the inland spousal sponsorship. While waiting for my application to be approved, would I still need to enroll and renew my student visa? We are looking for a way where we can save money. We are open for suggestions! You Should apply right before your study permit expires. When did you stop studying? At the moment it is hard to get both a marriage license and a marriage certificate. You may not be able to apply for spousal sponsorship and OWP before your study permit expires. You also want to apply for visitor status in case your OWP gets sent back due to application errors.

Hello! Thank you for answering. You mean as soon as possible get marry and start the application? I can enroll for this coming september and renew my study permit, but we think it is a waste of money as a international student who pays more if we can save it as we plan to get marry.
