Hi everyone,

I just wanted to briefly share our experience that we had on monday at our landing interview.
There was a room of about 14 people, and we all sat down and had to watch two power point presentations on PR cards and rules etc.
After that, they called up each couple one by one and only spoke to the client(not the sponsor). They asked, if I had any children anywhere in the world, have I ever committed any crimes since I've been in Canada. Have I ever been convicted of a crime anywhere in the world. We answered those with the obvious no, they made us check over the documents, making sure dates and spelling was right.( They did not ask any personal questions at all, so please, dont be like us and be soo nervous or worried. They are not out to get you, you have already been approved for PR). At this point they took the passport sized picture attached, had me sign a document, shook my hand and welcomed me to Canada. It was SUCH a relief!!!

Our journey has been on going for 3 years. It has finally come to an end, and thanks to those who have answered some of our questions when we were so lost or confused. Good luck to everyone on here, and don't lose faith! Your time will come as well.

Hi Luckyjinx,

Firstly, I am very happy for the two of you. I can't imagine what it must have been like with such a long wait. I realize at one point you considered withdrawing your application which I assume many people do because they just want to get on with their lives.

Can I ask you what they said prompted that interview. I realize it was genuineness of the relationship but did you have a short courtship or did your status run out. I hope you don't mind me asking. The majority of the people I have contact with have allowed their status to run out while on a work or school permit and then they have married. The CIC then becomes suspicious of MOC. Our case is not like this but we had a short courtship, spent many hours on skype, met for the first time in person 2 months later, reunited one month after this and got married the following month. We have been waiting for an interview or some form of contact since October 1st when we were notified about a transfer to the local CIC. The local CIC's processing time is 4 to 6 months so it will be 4 months as of February 16 which was when the file finally arrived at the local office. Although this office is supposed to have one of the quickest processing times I simply believe that because my husband has status until July of this year they are not rushing it. I ordered FOSS notes but that was a true waste of time as there was nothing on this record except for the date the file arrived at the local office.

Luckyjinx, sorry should have specified, I am asking what prompted the interview for spousal sponsorship not the landing interview.

Thanks.

Valeco, congrats! We finally came to the end of the road..... feels great. Next, apply for citizenship, but thats the easy part in my opinion.

How long do you figure you'll get ur PR card? they say 4-8 weeks right?

i wonder when ppl usually get it and if that is just a guidline.

They give you that so if it's late, you can't call them and yell at them haha

yeah thats what i figured...so we don't keep calling their call centers lol, they figure 8 weeks is more than enough time to receive PR card.

Valeco, yep 2010. It took way way wayyyy to long to finish this process. But, very happy and blessed all went smoothly and we're lucky to get the opportunity, as some ppl are not that lucky or have too many complications.
