Inland CL sponsorship (Work Permit Questions!)

Hi,

I'm currently putting together my application to be sponsored by my partner who is a Canadian citizen through inland sponsorship. I have no worries about this application being approved as we have been in a genuine common-law relationship for 5 years living together in the UK/Canada.

My current OWP expires in May 2019, I have been working for the Ontario government (corrections) for 10 months by the time I plan to submit the PR application (including the OWP application to extend/change circumstances), and I also just received a job offer in December 2018 from the Ontario government for an additional year.

I'm worried about the OWP application being rejected (leaving me without implied status to continue working) as I don't currently have an LMIA for the job (although I think the Ministry would be able to get me one) as my initial work permit was open and I didn't require an LMIA to get my current job.

I'm also seeking professional advice as it's crunch time, but I'm wondering if anybody might have some insightful information?

Will my OWP application be declined as I don't have an LMIA?
Do I need to get an LMIA for the OWP application before I send my full CL PR application?

If anybody has useful information I really appreciate it!

You don't need a LMIA to submit an OWP app with the inland spousal app.

Thanks for the quick reply, that sounds promising! So, based on the circumstances I explained above do you think I will be granted the OWP?

Is there anything I should send with the OWP application (Proof of current employment/extended job offer)?

And one last question - would I check the "Apply for work permit with the same employer" even though there was no employer on my original OWP?

Satisfy the requirements of checklist and you'll be fine. No reason you wouldn't be granted the OWP unless you have significant extenuating circumstances you haven't mentioned. You tick the "new employer" option. The fee is $255 for the OWP ($100+$155 for open work permit and work permit holder fee). You need to apply for the OWP at the same time as submitting the inland app and you have to be in status.

Thanks so much! I have been seeking that answer everywhere.

Hi .. i have a query... My Wife carries a LMIA WP expiring DEC 2020.... i just submitted application for her SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP... along with OWP.... but i included only $100 as the OWP HOLDER fee.... just worried if my application would be returned???? Any comments are appreciated...
The OWP app will likely be returned. You can pay the $155 now and send the receipt and hope they can attach it to the app but probably not.
