SA on March 7 (Winnipeg office). Still waiting for AIP/ BGC for PA has not started yet.
No idea if file moved to a diff office or not. No updates since. Tired of the delay. Many others with SA in/after March seem to have received their AIP.

Hi guys.
This is my experience so far.
After receiving AIP on April 25 from Etobicoke office. I received a request letter asking for criminal record check based on fingerprints from Canada and background check from Colombia; on April 27... I am already working on they.
Also I applied for OHIP using the AIP letter.

I couldn't, before doing it I needed a request by immigration.
Also my case is not a regular one. I have been living in canada for 9 years as a refuge claimant.
Still everything will be in immigration by the next week

They 100% gave you incorrect information, that's a shame and such a waste of your time. It clearly states on OHIP's website that if you are deemed to qualify to apply for PR (in other words, AIP), you can apply for OHIP with a 3 month waiting period.

You must also meet at least one of the following additional requirements. You:
have applied for permanent residence, and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has confirmed that:
  • you meet the eligibility requirements to apply (THIS IS AIP)
  • you have not yet been denied

Anyone know how common it is for BGC to start without an update in GCKEY status? I really want to hope my BGC has started... medical was done and received in November...

A June applicant that I know received email correspondence from the minister of immigration office stating that his background check has started, even though it shows on his GCKEY that it hasn't. Hope this helps!
