I have never seen "on hold" status when I applied online. I am guessing they were missing something that was supposed to be submitted (e.g., photo?), and they should have sent a message online or an email indicating why the application was held. I don't know why the call centre couldn't give a reason, though, unless the application processor did not document the reason. I renewed my OWP in September and received it by the end of October, and I am hoping that's the last time it's needed. Try calling the call centre again... sometimes you will find one agent will know how to get information for you that another one couldn't see (see Psalm91's recent posts). If that doesn't work, you may want to visit your MP or hire an immigration lawyer.arhel said:

My husband and I are still waiting for a reply for his landing papers as well, so far everything was okay and the last we heard from CIC was stating medical results have been received and now we are over our waiting time for everything to be completed. We have been calling CIC call center and agent is saying that its taking long because apparently the medical is expired, when my husband did his medical early last year. They told us to wait but we dont even know if we should send a new medical to CIC or wait till they ask for a new medical. They also send us a letter back in Feb 2014 stating my husband can apply for an open work permit, but we left it thinking the papers will come through soon anyways, now the waiting it getting really stressful and his thinking of applying for an open work permit but we'r not quit sure how to apply for it online, I've seen work permit applications and all but not for the open work permit, its really confusing and stressful. Can someone please kindly tell me how we can apply for an open work permit online where you dont already have to have an employer? and also what we should do regarding this medical issue?

The way it happened for me was I got an OWP automatically when I passed phase 1 back in October 2012. I had submitted forms though with my permanent residency application for work permit renewal, which leads me to say if you didn't do this, you should have. You may apply for an OWP any time though since you have a PR application in process, as I understand it. I had been here under a work permit that tied me to one employer before that, so even though I still work for the same employer today in the same position, it felt like things were going well for me to receive an open permit at that time. Since then, I had to renew my OWP as the initial one expired 31-October-2014.

Congrats on getting your PR card. I cannot update spreadsheet at the moment as my work computer doesn't allow access and my laptop computer at home is not working at the moment. (needs new motherboard). I will get it updated at some point though.Psalm91 said:

Until now we haven't receive the renewal of my husband work permit and nobody from the call center agent cane even verify the reason why. It's really frustrating to see him feeling depressed all I always say to him it's almost end of line and it might come soon now. What may cause the delay of renewal of work permit related to the last leg of processing his PR?bjohnson921 said:

Well, I found out the reason for delay with mine. I have non-accompanying children, and even though they are not moving to Canada, I was required to list them on my application and they had to meet the medical requirements. I traveled to Pittsburgh in July 2013 and my three youngest were examined by a CIC panel physician, but my oldest child who was 19 at the time refused to comply.
After some communication both ways, CIC agreed as of March 2014 to exclude my oldest child from the medical requirement.
Then I received a letter from CIC requesting I be re-examined because too much time had passed since my first medical (Nov 2012), so I obtained that in May 2014, and I have been waiting ever since.
The call centre agent, who was very nice and informative, told me the only thing on my file that appears to be missing has to do with my children as they are waiting for Los Angeles to provide them this information. What I don't know is did LA forget to pass the medical results back to Vegreville? At the time their medical results were fine and less than a year old, but now they are not, and I wonder if they are going to require I have my three children who are not exempt re-examined? I haven't heard from Los Angeles either way on this. I can see this dragging out where I have to get them re-examined, and by the time they provide this, I will need to submit to a third examination, and as long as the delays are taking, this cycle will never end. I hope I am wrong!
