We received our landing date too! ;D
Congratulations! ;D What date man?

Thanks for your response Jolly1. I am indeed in the second stage and it does usually take around 8-10 months. However, CIC lost my FBI letter and possibly my RCMP background check and never bothered to follow up with me. It wasn't until I got my MP involved that this got resolved (I had signed receipts from Canada Post proving they had rcvd them) and by that time the FBI letter had expired. So i had it done and sent it back and by that time the RCMP background check had also expired. I did that too and sent it and by then my medical expired and they refused to grant an extension. So I had to drive all the way to Halifax and do that again as well. While there the Dr. claimed that it takes 4 months for just the medical part to be processed, and that's what I am trying to confirm. Is it really 4 months or is that an exaggeration?

At 14 months since AIP I am far beyond the normal 8 months and am ready for this to be over. If it is 4 months then so be it, but I would really like to know for sure. I'm ready to start planning my life after this nightmare is over.

Thx, Tenn2NS

@ Tenn,
When you get to the stage of redoing medicals and getting a work permit you would have completed your first stage. So you are in the the second stage. I'm not sure what the time line is for the second stage now 8 months ?I think. I also had to redo my medicals, it was requested bk in September, I did it in October and I got my DM exactly 8 months after, which was the time line listed for the completion of the second stage . I've seen ppl on this forum getting DM much sooner tho around the 4 month mark. Every case is different and so are the officers processing them.
My Ecas has never been updated since I got AIP! No medicals received no DM , still says in process
The only way to know for sure is to wait and see.
I use to call every time, different answers everytime but it kept me sane. I felt as though I was doing something other than just waiting,
Hope you get your DM very soon!!

Wow. Find a different doctor. I know (from personal experience) that it takes about one month for a medical officer to review and sign off on a paper based submission - it's faster for e-medical.

In my case, my examination was done on February 6 and the medical officer signed off on the medical results on March 6 - I've seen the actual sign-off from the doctor (unusual situation but it was presented during litigation of the prior application refusal).

30 days sounds a whole lot better than 4 months. ;D

Thanks for your response Computergeek!

Thank you @Migrain!! At least we know that
Ottawa Is fast?
My work permit is due to expire 6 days after I land. May be it's the reason they "speed" up my landing?
A good deed from CIC would be unheard of right?
Lol
Your time soon come!! :)
Your speedy apt date is not far away!!

@ screech thank you!!

I called CIC.

They told me everyone should get a landing letter after 2 months when decision is made. I said i see no letter and asked what format they are sending me. They told me by mail. She still asked me whether I got the letter. I said no, did they send the letter? She said no. ( This part puzzled me - why ask the obvious? I thought they can check in their system, she has my client ID and read my file.)

She said she has put a reminder to ask them to send a mail to me and if I don't get it within a few weeks, I should call back.

Is this a happy reply or everyone got the same reply when they called cic?
