I have never personally ordered them myself, as I was trying to be patient. But I have been very tempted to because of what I have read on this forum. ( I just received DM letter today! )
I also read that if your application is more than two months past the specified timeframe you can contact your MP ( member of parliment ) for help.

Got my PR card in the mail today! Had to mail in new pics because they didn't like the last ones, but it still got here faster than I was told. The whole process is done (until I apply for Citizenship). Thank you everyone for all the support in the last year and a half and for answering questions. And thank you Screech for maintaining all the info. It is greatly appreciated.

Well today is been 2 years that my application is under process so I called CIC and they told me the same thing they been saying for a long time that is under process and they waiting on security clearance... so I contacted my MP who was very helpful and told me he is going to look into it and call me either today or tomorrow. but now I have a very big issue I got an offer from my boss to send me to management course but he doesn't wanna invest the money if I can't stay in the country.... which is making it even more frustrating for me because now I really need an answer... so I could go and do the course and have the job I've been working for so hard for a year and a half now...

I am in the same boat. We applied for my husband on July 2012, AIP on January 2013 and did medical on December 2012. He has a dependent (daughter) in Dominican Republic. She got a request for additional documents from Santo Domingo on March 26, 2013 and then for the medicals on September 9, 2013 (that she did on September 23, 2013). I have been calling CIC periodically and they are telling me that the file for the dependent is complete already, but now they are doing security checks on my husband and his daughter. 
Wow! It's unbelievable... how long can it take? new passports got even your finger prints in it (mine does anyways) so it really shouldn't take long to run those through a system... I got AIP in October 16 2012 and applies in may 1 2012 so that stage didn't take very long but this second one I been on since then it's driving me nuts I had to turn down a job because I couldn't go to school since I can't afford to get a student visa...
