Has anyone applied for a Health card in Ontario with "AIP" letter only? Is it possible to do so without having the work permit in hand?

Yes you can apply for OHIP with AIP in hand. My wife was able to get OHIP but had to write to OHIP review board to get it. Not all Ontario Service will accept email AIP up front.

Snail mail is a slang for mail sent through canada post. Mail sent through canada post tend to be rather slow in delivery time.

When you get DM, usually you get an email from CIC on DM. After that it can take up to 6 weeks to get a landing letter from your local CIC office sent through the mail, thus called snail mail.

Hi sunsun,

Not from the states, I'm from Europe. We saw 2 others from USA get AIP & DM in the same day recently so we thought lucky Americans but to our surprise they did it for us as well.

Thank you,Sunbrey....

I think that I should wait 1-2 months based on my AOR which was their mistake (They lost my original payment )...Sigh....

It is one of the reason paying the fees online is the preferred method. A money order/bank draft can get lost or overlooked by CIC agent and claim to say there are no payment.

Hello Everyone,
I just found these forums.. a great resource!

I am a citizen and sponsored my wife inland.. she came over on a tourist visa after we got married.
Is it possible for her to drive in Alberta? she did not bring an international driving licence from India.

Our application was received near the end of May we still have a long wait ahead of us.. is there no way she can drive in Canada in the mean time?

I find it a bit ridiculous that the spousal sponsorship are not done on a priority bases... its crazy to imagine that it will take 2 years for a spousal immigration... and the time is still increasing.. is there no department that look at this problem and hear people's voice and consider the impact this has on people's life?

Sorry, I am a bit frustrated with this super slow process.

End of May 2013? And if you have all the paperwork from your application for permanent residency she can get an Alberta Driving license for one year. That is what I have in Alberta whilst my PR is processing. However being from India she will probably have to take another driving test. Im from the UK so was just able to swap my license over. Go to an alberta registry and ask someone or go on servicealberta.gov.gc.ca and there is a bunch of info on there. I sent my application in October 2012 and only heard back from them this month. 10 and half months of waiting for first stage approval. We are all going through it.

Sitting in the doctors office listening to the medical assistant attempt to navigate the emedical forms while the doctor keeps correcting her and telling her she is doing it is wrong.. Its her first day.... "Awesome" .. My blood pressure is rising

CONGRATS to the many who have received good news recently! So glad CIC seems to finally be moving again!

We're still just doing the "easy wait" (waiting for landing letter from Montreal, as opposed what I found to be the "hard wait," waiting for AIP/DM). Sent requested info back to them and it was received 16 Sept. Hoping to see a letter this week, but not holding my breath.

I wondered when CIC started implementing emedical submittal. We didn't have to deal with that July 2012.

Hi people, like many i found this forum and i think is really interesting and informative, first of all congratulation for all the people receiving news, for me i just want to share / ask some advice, i sent my app in march 2012, they say they received in may 2012, and started processing in july 2012, the, i received aip in december 2012, after that they called me to redo meds and police check.. since then i dont hear anything and my 8th month was supposed to be august, i`ve been calling every week but they keep telling me that they are checking the police recods (i dont have any problem btw),, so the question/advice, should i be worried?? i need to call more??, check with a lawyer?? is it normal to take more than 8 months with DM??..

I ask all of this because i see people getting aip and dm at the same time with dates more recent than me and i feel they forgot me.. thanks..
