Luckily I was employable before as I came in on an open work permit before. But now I can leave the country if needs be and not have to worry so much about trying to get back in! Having the physical work permit in my hands takes such a weight off of my shoulders!

Congratulations to all new PRs!
My landing is this Friday - are CAIPS notes good for proof that all fees are paid?

I've been waiting for AIP.

I have a question.
Obviously I got AOR long time ago.

AOR means my application is in progress?
or my file is not opened yet?

I would be shocked if cic requests additional documents for AIP
after 10 month of submission.

AOR is a letter addressed to the sponsor saying that they offical received the application. As to what they actually do to give AOR, no one seems to know for sure. I am only assuming that they opened the application, review the forms to be sure that all the minimum required forms are completed in full and signed. If any of the required docs are missing or not signed, they will simply send the application back with letter saying it is incomplete. This is my thinking of what's being done to issue AOR.

Screech - I just wanted to ask you and the 2012 members a question about the AOR.

The current time for AOR’s (by comparison of others who have sent their applications in August like me) is about 3 weeks. I have not yet rec’d my AOR, and there are a few who have sent theirs in a week after mine who have already rec’d their AOR.

What could be the reason for having a longer wait for AOR? Could it be I have missed a paper or signature and they are returning the Application? (I find this hard to believe since I so thoroughly checked it 100’s of times…) I know we have a few things in our Application which will probably cause a longer processing time, but that shouldn’t affect the receipt of AOR, correct?

My fellow 2013ers suggested I call CIC, which I will probably do this afternoon on lunch, but as some of you over here have a bit more experience, I am wondering if not yet getting the AOR is something that the CIC Call Center would even have access/information on?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions & comments!

I have the same fear as well. In a week and some days I'll be waiting 11 months for AIP. As much As I am happy to see the success of others, my frustration is casting such a foul mood on me.

For months I would fantasize abt how I'd feel if I saw my AIP letter, how excited I would be but lately my jovial mood is expiring. I would check my email, then check this forum and then watch a movie or something. I've been waiting so long and depressed for months now that I lost my excitement. I just want this to end >:(

The actual approx time for AOR is 3 months. Not 3 weeks. If it has been 3 weeks for you, you are too early to expect AOR.

Well the actual time for everyone in the 2013 forum for the month of August has been 3 weeks or less. I haven't seen anyone wait more than 1 month for the AOR recently. For awhile earlier in 2013 ppl were getting AORs in 1-2 weeks. Tomorrow will be 5 weeks for me.

I do see in 2012 it was taking quite a long time for AORs, but 2013 seems to have been on a different timeline for these.

So even though people are receiving their AORs who have applied after me, I should wait 3 full months before contacting CIC?

Thanks for your help and input! :)

I haven't had the chance to look at 2013 timesheets. So if the 2013 applicants are getting it on average 2-3 weeks. You would think you would get yours. Unfortuately it is not the rule as 2012 applicants had to wait 3 months for AOR. With the strike going on, I suspect would may have to wait longer than 3 weeks to get AOR. To be honest AOR doesn't mean a whole lot except that they got your application and nothing more.

When I got AOR, I was excited that I can use this to get OHIP for my wife. Being ill-informed on sponsorship, I began to realized that it is as useful as a doorknob. Can't use it for anything other than an official date that my application was received on. The offical UPS confirmed delivery notice was just as good as AOR letter.

AOR for me was about 7 weeks and there were others getting it before me. AOR taking a while isn't something I would stress about. It's just the order of the pile they received. I think they use AOR to check the application date and put everyone's apps in order as well as to check for all paperwork. So some people will receive AOR before others because CIC does not yet have all the apps in order of receipt.

Lol...yes I realize that AOR is pretty useless...it's just to give me a moderate degree of peace of mind that they have physically LOOKED at my file....also to then be able to login to the CIC site....so I have something I can obsessivly check 20 times a day and see not 1 single update for 10 months +...... ::)

I had just been counting down to the 3 week mark...actually I started off hoping I'd be some exceptional case that would receive my AOR in under 1 week....HA! HA! HA!.......and then watched it pass the 3 weeks.....and watched others that sent in after me get theirs...

hmmmm...sound familiar? I guess it is good practice for the 10 months to come ::)
