Hi screech. Today I called the cic centre and the agent told me my file was transferred to my local cic office which is etobicoke. I forgot to ask if a decision was made
I applied in January 2012 and I received AIP in November of 2012. After a long wait I called cic in June 2013 and after 3 weeks my file was transferred to Vancouver backlog reduction office. Now it is transferred to cic etobicoke near where I live. What do you think is next.

From what you're telling me, it sounds like a DM. However you didn't get a DM email yet. However it does sound like good news. I don't have you on the spreadsheet. Would you like to be put on the sheet? Let me know and you can PM me your timeline, country, city, OWP, etc.

I would for now treat it as a possible DM until further notice since you did not yet receive a DM notice yet.

It means either that a decision has been made and you're awaiting a landing interview OR there is a question that requires the local office do further processing (e.g., issues of identity or admissibility). Did the CIC agent tell you if a decision had been made?

The purpose of the TRV would be to permit the holder to return to Canada if she or he were to leave for some reason. If the OP is not planning on traveling, the TRV is not necessary.

I understand getting a TRV if applicant has OWP as OWP does say "do not permit re-entry" on it. However not knowing what a Work Permit look like, does it allow multiple entry into Canada? If it does allow multiple entry, a TRV is pointless.

Besides, since OWP specifically say "do not allow re-entry", aren't you violating the condition of the OWP by even leaving Canada despite having a TRV or not.

So... I was advised to have as many permits as possible (it will just look better if you intend to travel abroad). You might not legally need it, but reentry depends on the officers in the border and if you have all permits BUT PR is just less likely for you to have a problem.

Also, we were told not to be away more than a week and do not travel to home country. It has to be a real vacation.

I called back. The agent said no decision. But file was sent to etobicoke for further review. Wondering what's happening.

Well. I got to say I am perplexed as to what they are doing with your file. Get sent to vancouver and then get sent to Etobicoke all without a decision made status. While I can understand the vancouver part for backlog processing, don't know why its sent to Etobicoke for further "examination.". Got to be fustrating to say the least.

Perhaps computergeek may be able to shed some light on it.

I'm rather confused as to why they'd issue AIP and then transfer the file to.two offices without a decision. Am I wrong to assume that files are only transferred without a decision prior to AIP? Isn't a lack of proof and believability of relationship issue reasons for transfer before AIP?

Thanks Screech and Computergeek,

I have applied for OWP since I talked to CIC and MPs office and they recommended to apply for OWP. I want to apply for TRV since I may have to travel in near future. I have travelled out of Canada several times since my inland application in process and never had any issues returning. I will check if it is possible to get TRV with OWP.

Thanks again.

I will wait for etobicoke to contact me. Guess they want us to attend an interview

You should order GCMS or foss notes so you have an idea why your file was transferred. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. Transfer before AIP is more stressful as it means they have doubts on the genuineness of relationship.

I did order Foss notes two weeks ago. I will get it by the end of august. Hopefully I'll get an idea

What is you timeline? So you already got an AIP? and then they started to send your app around?
