Thank the Lord, despite the strike it seems CIC is working after all. I just received an email with a PDF letter informing me the process is completed and that the scarborough office will contact me. 8 months, 2 weeks and 2 days after receiving AIP, I finally have a reason to smile :). I hope lots more of these emails are received today.
Congrats bored on getting DM. Glad to see some movement. Hopefully AIPs will begin shortly too. Timesheets are updated accordingly.

Hi Screech,
I just took a look at the spreadsheet. What is the difference between Application recieved and AOR Notification?
I just want to make sure that I am not missing a step in the process.
I sent my application and recieved an email in Nov 2012 that my application was recieved Nov 16th 2012. Since then on ECase there has been no status change - it is still "application recieved' status.
Is this normal? In Jan they requested me to resend a form.. I wonder would that be the cause in the delay of my AIP?

Thanks guys
@MP

Application received on my timesheet is the actual date CIC received your application. AOR mean acknowledgement of receipt. This is the email you get from CIC officially saying they got your application and now in process. The next step is getting AIP.

That's terrific news and congrats!!! I think 8 months is the new waiting time for AIP Stage 1. I expect to see lots more in the upcoming weeks :)

@ jiggy

I would have thought the second stage 8 month mark include landing as well. So bored has already passed the 8 month mark anyway. 259 days since AIP = 8.6 months not including landing date yet. In fact she has waited 448 days since application was submitted approaching the 15 month mark, beyond the 14 month average timeline listed on website.

Thanks a lot everyone. Since i got the letter as PDF, i am not anticipating a hard copy to be mailed to me. So now the wait begins for the Scarborough office to contact me, i figure another 2 months or so. Considering i've been waiting for a little over a year now, another 2 months is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. To God be the glory, He is always on time.

Hi Screech,

I've never thought of the 8 month mark as including landing. Did you find that documented somewhere?

I may be making an assumption here but when someone tells you that the timeline for PR sponsorship is 14 months, you would expect timeline is application submitted to time of receiving PR stamp. According to website. "In order to know total approximate time it may take for your application to be processed ADD....". Total to me mean the whole process as in complete from beginning to end. Otherwise that is a very misleading statement. There is no fineprint anywhere on website or guide that it does not include time for landing either.

This is no different from airline advertising a price but doesn't include fees and you end up paying more than advertised price.

I agree that it isn't clear.

The wording on the DM letter is something like (sorry, don't have it in front of me) "...we have finished processing your application."

To me, that sounds like the end of a stage.

While that sounds like the end of a stage, isnt landing also a stage too. So if you sign on the website for your status, CIC record "complete" after landing. To me complete includes landing. Otherwise it is not complete from beginning to end.

https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/redir.do?redir=app_perm_com&lang=en&app=ecas

Take a look at the link for "application for permanent residence in Canada". The diagram shows from start of application to complete.

Statistically according to timesheet so far 12 out of 49 have already passed the 14 month mark after landing. The rest so far have landed under the 14 month mark which falls under the 80% mark of complete process.

Hi I would think the local CIC will contact you for example for Alberta it is Edmonton and Calgary offices. I thought Vegreville is a case processing center and not a landing office. Which Province are you located in? wherever it is then the office that will contact you is the one closest to you (In most cases).
Hi, I live in Victoria, BC.

How does the local office contact us? Is it by letter (mail), email, or do they call us? I'm so scared that maybe a letter could have been lost, or they called and my wife might have missed the phone call.
