I'm so sad, everybody is getting DM but not me... is almost a year and nothing all other steps were in time but this last one is taking so loong :'( they told me everything was ok with my file. I though our dossier was good enough, I don't have any criminal records or childrens, so I don't see why is taking so long :( I want to see my family so badly! Sorry for my rant, I'm just so sad :(

dun be sad, i was in the Feb 2012 group but still only hv AIP right now... -.- i understand the feeling seeing other applicants behind us got DM much sooner than us... hope ours are on its way!

Good morning Everyone,

I am august 2012 applicant and did not receive AIP yet, (my file was transferred to Saskatoon office). This morning i receive email from CIC requesting me to do medical and they attached medical instructions. Does anyone here experience having medical 1st before AIP?

Also, Does anyone here knows the best Dr's to book-in for medical appointment here in Edmonton?

Thanks

Welcome mikemk,

It usually takes about 6-7 months to get AIP after application submitted. Where are you living and what country are you coming from so I can update timesheet.

I was invisible all these time. I am from Montreal.

Such a great forum and lots of valuable infos from amazing people.

I just checked in my application status. And it says the following:

Permanent Residence:

We received your application for permanent residence on January 23, 2012.

We started processing your application on October 29, 2012.

Medical results have been received.

A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.

I haven't received any letter or email at my end. Just emailed my lawyer asking whether she has received anything or not.

Just worried.......let's see what happens.

That means your application is completed. You will receive a mail (thru your lawyer) about the landing appointment. Congrats..

Question for anyone who can answer. My common law spouse and I have submitted an inland application to sponsor him (who is in Canada) and his 2 girls (who are still in Jamaica) immigration has sent the girls a package of papers to fill out, im assuming its another application? does anyone know why they have sent them these forms to fill out when they are minors and have been included in our original application?

Hi guys! I have a stupid question.

So I saw that some people who received their landing interview letter had a request to bring their TRV. My landing letter never said I needed to bring it nor do I even have one :(. Is it because I was from a visa exempt country (USA)? I just want to make sure I have all the proper documents for my interview next week.

Thanks!

Hi all,

I have a question about getting SIN immediately after receiving confirmation of becoming PR.
My wife (the applicant) is hoping to seek a summer job (July+Aug) relating to her fields of study.
After we know she got DM, we didn't want to apply for the off-campus work permit.
Her landing interview is June 25th.

I read some mix answers. Some was able to get SIN with a Confirmation of PR, and some mentioned that the IO at the landing interview told them that SIN cannot be obtained until the PR card arrives (which will take approx 53 days) from their experience.

The following is what I read from Service Canada website for applying SIN:

Permanent residents
Permanent residents must submit one of the following documents:

a Permanent Resident Card issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). This is the only acceptable document if your residence claim was processed in Canada;
a Confirmation of Permanent Residence and visa counterfoil affixed to a foreign passport or a travel document; or
a Record of Landing issued before June 28, 2002.

From my understanding after reading the above, those that receive PR inland "should" not qualify to get a SIN yet since the only acceptable document would be the PR card because the residence claim was processed in Canada.

Anyone from Toronto tried and successfully getting a SIN immediately after getting the confirmation of PR? Which Service Canada office did you apply your SIN at?

Thank you :)
