Yes the OWP allow you to work and to keep status but its not a visa, visa is a different matter and there's different kind of visas, if you leave the country once you come back the officer will request both visa and work permit (if your visa is a worker visa) hope that helps to get the picture clear

Some things I see CIC do I'd not be surprised getting AIP on a holiday or Sunday . a see a member getting AIP on a Saturday
