Hi guys
I have a question about BC driver's license. Is it possible to get a DL with just AIP ? I went to my local ICBC to find out if i am eligible to get a license and they said i have to have PR or landing paper or work permit ...Is it true??I just applied OWP after the AIP. I think, i read on thread somewhere that people are getting license on AIP. I also have a license from U.S.
I hope somebody know more about this..computergeek ?
Thanks

Hey Iav.. We had been frustrated by this too.... My husband only has Multiple Entrance Visa and does not have a Visitor Record Date stamped in his passport. They would not allow him to do the learners Test as the programs is supposed to be one year and a Visitor's Visa is only vaild 6 months... we are only at AOR stage.

When I called the ICBC 1-800 number they said he could apply.... so he studied intensley for a few weeks and ... went to the DMV and was unable to take the test. .. I have yet to follow up! Let me know what you find out!!!!

E-cas is unreliable, you don't have to worry about anything, its a good sign that your application says received so by June 17 you should be receving the AIP email. I wouldn't worry too much about E-cas or not hearing from them till June 17. No news is good news.

Thanks man, that's re assuring... This whole process cld one a heart attack! Thanks again

I'm in Ontario and i got my G1 license before i even applied for PR. (they asked for passport and official translation of my country's DL).
I could do G2 right away too.
Nobody ever mentioned that i can't have driving license.
When i got my marriage certificate, then i changed my G1 for new last name.

confrentis
Yeahh laws to get license in Ontario are different than here in BC. I wish BC does the same..

I'm in Ontario and I got my licence with just my passport and work permit. And this was before I applied for PR

Hi Guys,

I just started reading this board and I find everyone here is waiting for their sponsorship approval.

We received this email stating:

"This confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2012/11/01 on behalf of the following member(s):"

What are the steps from here?!

I see a lot of acronyms AIP, AOR, DR can someone explain?

AIP = Approved in Principle ... but what does this mean and how long will it take from here.

Timeline would be great!

Look forward to hearing from you guys! Thanks!

Sunbrey

You got AOR. Acknowledgement of receipt, you will be able to access e-cas in the next few days if its not down. After 6 months of the date you sent your application, you will receive AIP (Approval in Principle) email both for the sponsor and applicant, you can then apply for work permit or study permit unless you already sent it with your application.. Then you wait maximum 8 months for decision made where you will be landing in your local CIC office. The spreadsheet of 2012 applicants is on signature of Rusty53 , it will show you timelines of 2012 inland applicants.

heres the link : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArrQkNcsLVotdDJOOWJlZkhVOEhCMHZCakNoa3UzVHc#gid=0

hello.... does anyone know what is the processing time that applies to renew a non-expired open work permit? Is it 56 days or 18 days for online applications??

88 Days for paper, 56 days for online..

Note that the timelines here are for 80% of applicants - they are not "maximums" but rather they are the amount of time it took CIC to process 80% of applications. AIP can take longer if there are questions about the relationship or if there are concerns about the sponsor's eligibility (e.g., a PR who they aren't sure is eligible for some reason). Final decision can take longer if there are admissibility issues or the security checks take a long time.

COGRATULATIONS! sunbrey!!!

That's awesome news, as the AOR is the first step in this long process. :P

Hi guys,

Does anyone know if getting a Sponsorship Approval means that you have passed the 'relationship is genuine' test and that you are on your way to an AIP (assuming, of course, that the applicant is not a convicted felon or any such thing)?

I'm asking because I got a letter on Feb 4th stating that I have been approved as a sponsor. However, as of today (Feb 15th), my husband still has not gotten any letter regarding his AIP. Ecas says 'We started processing xxxxx'x application on February 4, 2013.' I'm getting really antsy because I don't know if the delay means that they are sending his application to a local CIC office for further interview, or if this is normal, or maybe they are doing checks so they can give us 2nd stage approval along with 1st stage?

Help!

I called CIC today and the agent there told me that nothing has been mailed to me yet! Anyone else had this happen to them?

Sunbrey, I have added you to the spreadsheet. Please tell me when you got the email (AOR) from CIC. Also did you submit medical, police clearance and OWP? Please let me know and I will update for you. By the way welcome to the club of patient people!

Thanks for the info Darwin! Much clearer now.

If feels like we are much closer than we originally thought! :D

And I see you guys added us on to the spreadsheet, Niiiice!

I just logged on for the first time ... it's currently in process :D

This is very exciting, I'm glad we found this board.

Thanks guys! Good Luck & Godspeed!

My OWP came in the mail today. Finally not on 'implied status' anymore. Rusty could you please update the spreadsheet? You're awesome by the way. It's a lot of work for you and you keep up with it all the time! Thank you and a round of applause for you! ;)

@giraffe89 Congrats on reaching so far. When did you send your application in, and if you had any interview. all the very best until you finally hear from them to come in for the landing interview
